screwy tach guage

2003 2500HD 4X4 6.0 GAS MOTOR

Today Istarted to drive and my tach needle shot up to 4000 rpm,

it is shifting fine and not revving it just wont go back below 4000rpm, I tried disconnecting the battery and there is no check engine light or anything. Oh yeh the truck has 43000 miles. Any ideas????

We're having LOTS of problems with clusters. Usually, it's the speedometer needle that's way off, but I don't see any reason the tach couldn't do the same thing.

 

The cluster needs to be sent out for repair or exchange.
