Torsion bar keys

I have a 05 1500 crew cab, i cranked up the tosion bars to see how much lift i could get. trying to see if i could fit 285/70/17 under this thing. Of corse the ride went to heck on it, the crew cabs with the z71 package seem to ride a little stiffer then the extended cabs do. Probably has something to do with the gvw being 7000 lbs. compared to the ext. cabs 6400 lbs. My question is- if i put the ford keys on this truck can i return it to stock height by just running the adjuster bolts back down? Is the ride going to be the same as just turning up the stock keys or does it somehow ride smoother with the ford keys? I would think the ford keys would just raise it higher and the ride would be just as stiff as cranking up the stockers. Anybody tryed putting 285/70/17 on their 1/2 crewcabs? How much taller and wider are they compared to the stock 265/70/17's ?

I put a set of Ford keys on the wifes Avalanche. They were easy to install and though they stiffened the front up, it was needed... Noticible-yes, better-yes, but I had not cranked the factory TBars up so I can't compare them to factory. The 285's make it look much better than the 265's we had. I also installed a programer and recalibrated the speedo, runs like it did off the showroom floor.

I run 285/70/16's without turning the keys at all. However, I am interested to see any replies comparing the factory and the Ford keys as I've been curious about jacking mine up.

I have the Ford T-Bar keys on mine but mine is a SCSB. The ride is a lot stiffer but no more than off road shocks would make it IMO. The 285 75 16 ProComps fit with no problem. The install was very easy. Make sure you get the front end aligned after you do it though.
