Just Purchased a 99 Tahoe, mods?

Hey all, I just purchased my first truck ever, a 99 4dr Tahoe. She is in great condition. Has 4x4, leather, cd, 79k miles, etc. I can't wait to get it shipped out here (in the military/student so I had to wire my parents the cash as I don't have time to go car shopping out here).

I was wondering what sort of maintenance should I perform on a regular basis and anything to look out for. In previous posting I know I should watch out for certain parts around 80k and 120k miles. Anything else? I don't know a whole lot about cars but I can get around and do basic maintenance on my own.

Also, what sort of mods can I do to this truck? What are some of the more basic mods that are good to do early on and have a good price/performance ratio. I have some money left over in my budget for a truck so I figured I could put it into the truck. Again, I can do basic maintenance but thats about it, so most things I would have to go to a shop to get done.

Again, I'm new to all this so sorry for the basic question. Any other good forums to browse besides this one to start learning?

Any input is appreciated! Thanks!

Congrats. As for service on the truck, I'd check the fluids basically for starters- front/rear diff, transfer case, tranny, coolant, oil of course. Take a look at the belts and hoses as well.

Any good mod for starters is an exhaust change...better airflow and sounds good. Also you might look into doing an air intake mod, can increase gas mileage. Neither of these make a WHOLE lot of difference, but every little bit helps.

Any advice on what brands or models to use with the truck?

congrads on the truck and as for mods i would go for the intake/exhaust and look into a custom tune as that will make the most difference to your truck..

but just remember its a new to u truck and you should get used to how it runs without all the goodies so you really feel the difference when you start adding mods
