rjirvine Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 Has anyone added any kind of stop leak to their engine oil, or tried the Valvoline high milage oil? I think the V-6 on my 97 K1500 has a rear oil seal leaking. It's leaking out of the drain hole from the bell housing, and just sitting in the driveway has an oil spot about the size of a 50 cent piece. It's not tranny fluid. I'm not TOO worried about it, but had heard that the stop leak swells the rubber to stop leaks....

It is an expensive job becuase the transmission needs to come out, but necessary.

I have replaced the clutch and rear seal on my 88 K1500 three times and know what a serious pain that is. I was looking for something to push off the inevitable.
