K1500 Brakes

Recommended Posts

I have a 98 K1500 and noticed after I repaired a rear brakeline and wheel cylinder (pedal was VERY low) that my brakes grab real quick and cause the tires to lock up even at low speed. It only happens for the first 300 yard or so of first driving the truck then acts perfect. I noticed when this is happening, the "check gauges" light is on. As soon as the light goes out it acts fine.

Any ideas?

The front actually locks up. Not sure if one or both. It locks up as soon as I touch the pedal, maybe 1 inch of travel. After the check gauges light goes out it acts normally with full stopping at around 2 inches of travel. My thought was maybe antilocks?

I messed up something on the problem. I noticed the check gauges light only apparently the ABS light came on and off first. Didn't notice till today. I pulled the fuse so it stops fine now.

Any ideas or still check the codes? I have access to a Snap-On scanner for this.
