I think it is just about time to update. 210k and still has the original shocks....I think. The previous owner never said anything about them being replaced. :happysad:

Any suggestions?

I had a '93 K1500 before my new truck, with a 3" Rancho lift. All I got were the Monroe Gasmatics (the dual-cylinder yellow ones, about $40 CAD a corner at the time).

They were absolutely great. Truck handled like a dream and rode real nice. I have nothing but good things to say about them. Cheap like borscht and strong like tractor.

My truck rode like a truck and I really, really liked it.

Geez, maybe I've answered my own question about the '05 shocks I'm curious about. I'd probly go for the Monroe Reflex, and since I'm not driving a race car, I think I'm not gonna bother with the monotubes unless somebody tells me "night and day" difference.

But even tho your truck is older than mine they're both still torsion bar/A-arm front suspension and live axle leaf spring rears. I think all you need, and for that matter all I need, are something like the Monroe Gasmatics or the Monroe Reflex.

I replaced the shocks on my '93 w/ Bilsteins, but I just put Monrow Reflex Monotubes on my '04 and am really happy with them. I'd check them out, they won't break the bank either.

I would strongly suggest that you take a look at KYB. Their std shock is exactly OE quality and the Mono MAX is their premium shock. Many people do not realize it but 26% of the vehicles produced in the US come off the assembly line with KYB. They are an engineering company that produces ride control products, not a marketing company who makes shocks.

Sorry if I sound critical of other brands, some of them are very good and others make great looking literature and boxes.

I put a set of the Monroe Reflexes on today -- very happy with them. Rock steady, and you don't feel the bumps. FAR better than what came with the truck, and it didn't break the bank.
