07 Tahoe Bug Shield - Need Advice

Just bought the GM Parts painted bug shield and I am unsure about the mounting.

It is attached to the hood with metal brackets / tabs that allow the shield to "stand" away from the hood. They appear to serve the purpose of allowing you to clean behind it (?)

Anyone have this particular model? Comments?

Those that have other makes of shields, How are they mounted?

So NOBODY with an 07 has put a bug shield on yet????????

I don't know if you already installed a bug shield looking at the date of your post. I have an 07 Suburban and installed the genuine GM bugshield and it does stand off from the hood by about an inch. I love my shield. I have a Summit White burb and you can hardly see the shield (the way I like it) and when you do see it, I like the way it bends around the curves of the hood. You also can't see it while driving, another plus. It really does a good job keeping the windshield clean. I had an 02 green Suburban and the leading edge of the hood was almost grey from the number of chips in the paint.

The install was a cinch, I did have to flip a couple of the brackets around once when I installed them upside down.

If you look closely at my sig picture, you can kind of see the bug shield on the burb.

Bought a GM shield from my dealer for my nbs Silverado. After seeing how those metal brackets apparently clip onto the front edge of the hood, I didn't install it. Like you, I want to see what others had to say about it first. What the hell were they thinking?

I installed one from GM on my 07 NBS just remember to put those little pieces of teflon tape under the metal clips and brackets so it dont scratch your paint they are great deflectors and look fantastic and dont slap around as much as the cheap aftermarket ones I have had in the past
