1998 GMC transmission

Wreck

Question

Posted

Just had my engine rebuilt. The truck has 97,000 miles on it. I had it rebuilt because the lifters were ticking in the morning and I couldn't stand it. I started driving home it felt like the transmission was shifting. Almost like someone was putting the brakes on real quick and letting off. I turned around and brought it back. The next day I went to pick it up and they said the "Knock Sensor" was bad. So I drove it home, which is 5 miles from the garage... The next morning I went out and started it to let it warm up a little and the truck actually started to rock back and forth! I called them back and they told me I needed my transmission rebuilt. But they drained as much fluid out as they could and repalced it with new stuff. There was nothing wrong with it when I brought it there. I mean I never noticed anything. No lights are on either Any ideas?? I just put $2300.00 and a whole 15 miles on the motor. They said $1300.00 to rebuilt the automatic transmisson. I'm so frustrated.

FIrst off I would take it somewhere else to get it looked at. If the shop rebuilt the motor for lifters ticking then they ripped you off. Did they even try to adjust them as they are adjustable. Why not change the lifters, cheaper than a rebuild, at 97K that motor was getting broke in.

Get your truck back and go elsewhere. They aren't looking out for your wallet. They are ripping you off IMO. On the transmission you can get a reman GM transmission for what they want to rebuild yours and a warrantee to go with it.

I hate to hear about dishonest places ripping folks off. :)
