Just wondering if anybody has done any snowplowing with this new combonation of truck? I plow with my 5.7L gas now and I was just wondering if I was going to have any problems switching to a diesel. I do alot of residential so I am up and down on the throttle alot.

The snow plow prep package is not availble with the duramax engine, plowing is not recomended i think the front end would be to heavy but I'm really not sure.

emgaston, the truck I have on order has the snowplow package. It includes high flow bumper, auxiliary power, etc. I have a friend with a D***e w/ Cummins power and he has no problems plowing with it. Have you plowed with a diesel before? I was just wondering where your info is coming from? Dealer?

Plow pkg and Duramax diesel do go together, the only configuration that is a no no is a crew cab 8100 or D-max-and who in there right mind would want to plow with a truck that long anyway

I will be plowing with my CC/8.1/ short box.  But no one has accused me of being in right mind, so I guess it's ok.

KJ,you putting a plow on that truck voids any and all warranty on the front end of that truck. You will be overloaded on the front axle.Do not get in an accident with that truck, with the plow on,a good lawyer will  tear you up,and remember ,overloaded trucks arent covered by insurance in accidents. They will check your configuration ,with your VIn,and determine that the only place a plow can legally go on your truck is in the bed.The CC,and 8100 took all your available front payload, none left for plow.I have a friend that found this out,and he's still paying for it.Just thought you should know, good luck with the new truck.

Thanks for the info.  I agree there is some risk in an accident.  I only have the plow on when I need it, and then it's just in town.  As far as warrenty, my dealer could care less if there is a plow bracket on the front.  Any dealer that would turn a customer away for that would not have my business.  We all make choices, and they're not always the right ones.
