Tow harness plug under dash 99-06

I understand from the Tekonsha folks that they make brake control harnesses for the 99-06 GM's with 7-wire tow harness. Mine is a '98 with Z82 tow pkg and when looking at my fuse panel under the dash on left, I see a 7-wire un-used rectangular recepticle at the top right of the fuse panel and I wonder if this is where the 99-06 plug for the brake control harness is?

Just wondering if mine might possibly be a late '98 with the harness plug. Don't know what that 7-wire rectangular recepticle might be if not for the 7-wire harness plug...???

The Tekonsha folks were very nice and gave me the known plug locations in the '98 fuse panel to connect the wires individually if needbe.

Thanks to all,

Marty

On my '03 the plug for the trailer harness is up inside the driver's footwell off to the left. It has a black cover over it and is in there with 3 or 4 other open plugs for other options I don't have.

Your owner's manual should have information on hooking up the trailer brake controller. On my 99, there are only 4 wires used on the Prodigy harness that connects to the truck's under-dash connector.

For my truck, the wires on the Prodigy only connect to 12v (always hot for the breakaway battery charger), stoplights, ground, and the trailer brake wire that actuates the brakes on the trailer.

If you don't have the owner's manual, the dealer should be able to show you where the brake controller harness connection is under the dash of your truck.

The Tekshona "plug-and-play" harnesses will have the proper connector for the truck side. If they don't have one for the earlier trucks, you will have to get the factory trailer brake wire harness and then splice the Tekshona harness to that according to the diagram that they provide.

The Tekonsha folks already gave me the individual places to plug into the panel for the individual wires. That's no problem. I just wondered because when looking at the panel and seeing that rectangular 7-wire recepticle at the top right (which seems to be the same shape of the 99-06 Teknosha plugs I've seen) I just wondered what that recepticle looks like on the 99-06 models. Thanks
