Moving My Rear View Mirror

hey, i have a 2005 z71 silverado with almost everything. its got onstar and xm. the onstar is in the rear view mirror, as is temperature and a compass. the passenger side airbag on/off display is in it too. here is my problem:

 

while driving sometimes i feel that the rear view mirror gets in the way off me looking across the truck. i feel its to low on the windshield. is there a way to lift the mirror up a few inches? id like it to be closer to the roof. theres this black plastic piece- my guess is for wiring- that runs into the back of the mirror. is this a slideable track? any help would be great.

that black plastic piece is just there to cover the wire... You could always take the mount off the windshield with goof off and a razor blade then just get some rear view mirror adhesive and re-mount it higher..

I would be careful with the moving of the mirror. They may have it placed at the right angle to see past the rear window without obstruction. Just mu $.02.
