Door Locks: Back Doors And Cargo Doors Don't Lock

Recommended Posts

I was picking up some groceries with my friend and when she went to open the back door, it opened. The alarm went off. I was quite surprised because I knew I had locked the doors. So, I shut off the alarm and locked the doors with the key fob. The cargo door didn't lock. Upon further investigation, only the front doors were locking with the key fob.

On the way home, I used the electric door lock buttom on the driver's side. Only the passenger and driver's door locked. I tried a number of things and the door locks aft of the front seats don't work.

Any ideas?

Oh, yea, I have a 2004 Tahoe LS, 4.8, with the doors in the back and not the lift gate.

Regarding the door locks: Is there something related to the connector for the seat belt on the driver's seat? I disconnected the seat belt wire that activates the bell when I start the truck. It was a real pain in the a$$ to hear that bell all the time when I put the key in and started the truck before I put my seat belt on.

clean the contacts on the top of the right rear door, I had to do it every spring

Topdj is probably right. I've had this happen quite a bit on a Tahoe. (door had 5 exposed pins that would push in when the door was closed. On the Door frame, were 5 brass or copper looking strips or plates. I'd get corrosion on the plates/pins, that could be rubbed off with a fine piece of sand paper)

Is there a DIC command for setting the door lock status? Since the doors will not lock with either the fob or the hard wired button, the problem is in the rig somewhere - perhaps a pinched wire - or a computer module gone bad. Found out that my new nbs 07 2500HD has six computers - my cabin computer went bad and the dome lights stayed on all the time.
