How Do You Remove The A Pillar Cover

Hey,

I've been listening to my new Sirrius that I mounted in the blank space in the overhead console. Since I could not direct wire due to the special socket that came with the radio I tapped into the console lights and installed a power outlet. I ran the antenna through the headliner and mounted it above the third light. Clean! Now after listening for an hour or so the unit shuts down and the console lights will not work. Finding no fuses blown I once again tried the lights and THEY WORK ! So now the radio works but again turns off and after a few minutes it will come back on. I assume that I have overloaded a relay that re-sets itself. My solution is to install a new power lead that is fused. I think that if I can remove the A pillar cover I could snake a wire over to the console and down to the dash. Has anyone removed this cover? Is it just snapped in place? Any help is appreciated.

If I remember correctly, mine just snapped into place. If you run your fingers down the side of it, you can feel where the resistance is. I just applied a little force at that location and it popped right out. Remember, finese is more important than using a BFH for this process. It is a little tricky once you put it back in because you have to ensure you line up everything but it will go back in. I installed the overhead console in mine and I ran the power for the console lights up the A pillar and across the headliner. I completely taped the entire wiring harness I made that traveled over the headliner to ensure the insulation covering the wiring doesn't rub off or anything like that. Call me anal I guess but my philosophy is - "Better safe than sorry." :D

Pull on it firmly. Then, go to the dealer and buy a new one because you'll probably break the plastic tabs off anyway.

thanks for the advice. I'll give it a try this weekend.

i found something really unusual when i pulled the kick-plate off on the drivers side of my rado.... finally someone got smart and put aluminum clips that bend with the pressure... very nice... good luck with pullin it off!

You may want to ask a dealer or a body shop. I tried to carefully remove mine to run some wires behind and broke the plastic molded piece that goes into the clip. I got them to replace it under warranty but since it has the stupid bose speaker in it, the whole piece, which comes as 1 unit and you cant order it without the speaker, is around $100.
