Z71 / Z85 Shocks

2nd question of the day

I have a 2007 Chevy Silverado Z71 (it also has the Z85 trailering package which I now understand is suspension..)

My right rear shock died last week (600 miles on the truck), leaked oil all over the place.

It took a week for the dealer to get one in.

Today I looked at the shock and noticed that the number on it s differnet than the other one. I referred back to a picture I had taken of the leaking one, and it had the same number on it as does the orignal one.

The original had H3T and then followed by OE13230

The new one has F2X and then followed by OE13104

Are these interchangeable or did they give me the "stock" shock and not a Z71 shock?

The Z71 and Z85 suspensions for the GMT900 trucks now use the same shocks,Unless it has the "NHT" Max Towing pkg.

You shouldn't have both Z71 and Z85,You can only one or the other since both are suspension packages,Post or PM me your VIN and I can run a build sheet on your truck for you.

Well that's just incorrect. It is possible to have both Off-Road Package (Z71) and Trailering (Z85.) You have a Z85 suspension with skid plates and a Z71 sticker.

No its not incorrect,I ran his VIN and he has Z71 and not Z85.

You cannot have both Z71 and Z85,You would either have one or the other.

*Sigh* Do I have to go take a picture from my glovebox?

The Off-Road and Trailering Packages are not mutually exclusive.

My qualifications include the ability to read at a 4th grade level.

I just bought one with Off-Road and Trailering written in plain English on the window sticker in June.

Ah,I understand now,I think there is some confusion here guys.....

ShaneV,You have a truck with both the Z71 pkg. and the trailering pkg.,RPO code Z82,which is totally possible,as a matter of fact I bet 90% of the guys on here have both packages,I do on mine,You can have both Z71 and Z82.........But you cannot have both Z71 and Z85.

I think the Z82 with the Z85 codes were getting confused,Z82 is the trailering pkg.,Z85 is the handling/trailering suspension pkg.

Hey guys now I really know why we were all confused,I looked at my window sticker just now when I got home and I see the issue.....

Z85 is listed as standard equipment on our trucks,However since our trucks were ordered with the Z71 pkg. that overrides the standard Z85 pkg.

If you look above the options on the sticker it even says "may replace standard equipment shown at left" which in this case Z71 replaces Z85.

Heck I never even realized the sticker mentioned Z85. I can definetly see why we had all the confusion
