Bench Seat Not Folding Forward

Recommended Posts

I have a 97 C-1500 Cheyene, standard cab, short box. It has a bench seat. The back only folds forward about 6" a the top. This is a pain when putting something behind the seat. It seems like it should fold forward much more than that. Has amyone else had this problem? Or is this just the way it is?

Thanks,

Chris

My 1993 regcab was the same way

Yeah. It makes little sense but I've seen the same issue on other trucks. To get anything behind the seat you have to slide it forward... what a PITA.

OK, for those who care, I have found a solution. It seems that that the inertia mechainsm gets dried up. By using some WD40 in the inertia weights at the hinge and working the seat back and forth, it will eventually loosen up and the seat back will fold forward all the way.
