Home Made Snorkel

I've got an 85 GMC K1500, I'm thinking of building a snorkel, besides the axle vents, the electrical system and the gas filler, is there anything else i need to water proof?

You need to worry about you exhaust. If you stall in the water, it is possible to fill your exhaust with water. I run my little Bronco2 in the mud bogs, I found a nice big peice of rubber (like a mudflap) hooked on the bumper keeps alot of mud and water out of the engine compartment. When I hit the mud holes it flaps back under the front axle and across the oil pan to keep every thing protected. I doubt it would be safe on the street though.
