How To Disable Cylinders? 07 Tahoe

Hey everyone. Just wanted to know if maybe anybody knows of a way to disable the cylinders on the fly?

I have a 2007 Tahoe and commute in LA Freeways and stop and go traffic on the way home from work everyday. I just noticed if I'm driving below 20 MPH its always on 8 Cylinders. Was wondering if its in 4 Cylinders mode while I'm just moving along at 5-10 MPH then stopping again if it would increase gas mileage?

I don't know if this is even possible. Anybody know?

Nope...You wouldn't like it either, at idle in 4 cylinder mode the engine supposedly vibrates like crazy, and it's more pronounced in some aftermarket exhaust systems.

For your type of driving, even with the added expense of the 2008 Tahoe/Yukon Hybrid is probably what you really need. There is currently a $2200 federal tax CREDIT available.

A couple of friends of mine live in the San Diego area. They had a couple of "standard" Ford Escapes, they ended up trading them for a hybrid Escape and cut their fuel bills by 60% because of the start/stop traffic. Of course they weren't saving that much in the first couple of months. Reason was that during the hot days, they were running the AC, well that eventually runs the batteries down and guess what starts running more often than not to charge the batteries back up? Once they learned that, the AC use became used sparingly to get the fuel savings.
