A PCM from a 4.8/5.3/6.0 is a gimmie, probably motor mounts too. The exhaust might not bolt up. I haven't really looked into it  But those would be the obvious things you would need to work on.

Wiring harness, front accessories for the engine, fan shroud, fan, mounts, exhaust, fuel delivery piping, possibly a fuel pump...

This is going to be a big project.

tranny should bolt up i would think, but the internals may be different i dont know when trans they both use, i would think 4l80e but i may be wrong if its an auto

what about the front end and read end? do i need to buy 2500 F/R axles? are the 2500 front and read ends any wider?

If you had the 4.8 or the 5.3 the swap would be a lot easier. As far as the tranny is concerned, do you have the 5-speed or auto trans? A friend of mine had the 4.3 and 5-speed in his. The front end and rear end should be fine but not sure about the tranny. If it is the 4L60E, that 6.0 will eat that tranny for breakfast unless you get it beefed up a little. The 4L80E may not fit because of the crossmember. This will be a huge project because you will need all the parts the other guys mentioned but you do have a good foundation in the newer 6.0. Good luck with this as I plan on doing this swap (my 4.8 to a LQ4 or LQ9 in the future).

I was thinking about doing this mod to my 1999. You would be better off to buy a new truck with a 6L. Thats what I ended up doing  . The 4L80E is longer than the 4L60E (The 4L80E comes in different lenths for HD, 4x4 and 2wd. From 29-33" in lenth vs what I think you have in your truck for a 4L60E's 30.75")and you would have to move the transfer case, shorten the driveshaft. It will basically come down to how much money you want to spend and how big of Tylenol bottle you have.

Here is a place I found that could help you.
