Bose Speakers Worth It?

Recommended Posts

Hard for me to say as I haven't A-B'd between the Bose speakers and the non-Bose setup. In general, I've found the Bose audio systems for vehicles to be highly overrated.

Depends on the price difference and your need for a higher quality audio experience while driving. If you are looking for a "booming-truck" with nothing but bass, I'd say don't do it. If you want clear sound quality throughout all ranges of music, I'd get the Bose system (if the price is worth it to you).

For me personally, I always take the upgraded factory radio in my vehicles.

You might take a look through this thread. There was recently a discussion about the Bose systems in the trucks. Personally, I think they're over-priced and over-rated.. Next time around, if I have the option, I'll probably go with a 'standard' stereo from the factory and spend the $$ on after-market equipment...

I think the quality of the Bose system is pretty good, very clear sound, but it has very very little bass. If you were to add a couple of subs to the Bose system you'd have a nice setup.

if you turn the treble and bass all of the way up it actually sounds pretty good. oh and you have different settings for each media you're listening to, i.e. you have to adjust the settings for listening to cd's, xm, fm, and aux

oh and that little subwoofer in the center console is plenty strong enough to rattle stuff in my truck and blur the mirrors. but you've GOTTA TURN THE BASS UP!

The bass has been cranked all the way up since the test drive. It has very little punch, compared to the system in my old car... Is it passable? Yeah. Am I going to replace it? No. Was it "worth" the extra money for the Bose name? Not in my opinion, no.....

I made the mistake of ordering some Bose QC3 noise cancelling headphones through work (for free) a while back. That was my 2nd mistake in getting Bose products. If I have a choice, in the future, I will not buy any other Bose products. They just don't live up to the hype and they are not worth the price -- to me. Other people, obviously, have different opinions on that or they wouldn't still be in business. :)

Agreed completely. Bose is a complete rip off.

Several points:

First: I don't think Bose is junk. Some of their systems don;t sound half bad. I just think you can do better for the money.

Second: If you don't have the Bose amps and EQ circuit, the Bose speakers aren't going to help you anyway. They go together as a system.

Third: Sound quality of aftermarket equipment generally blows away the OEM stuff. (unless you go for cheap)

I have a Bose system in my Silverado and a none bose in my Avalanche. Both are 2007 models NBS. The Bose is a heck of a lot better than the none bose. It is much more crisp and clear.

I have had the Bose system in several cars now and as for sound...Bose has a great marketing department...I wouldn't pay extra for Bose...if you need to get a package of other things and the Bose is included...

I agree with Sean here. I'm just saying that the aftermarket offers much better performance... for a price. Some folks like to have everything under warranty. Some would like the stuff on their truck to be included in their monthly payments instead of having to buy it too. Nothing wrong in either case.

Personally, I'll saw a hole in a new vehicle for something custom without batting an eye. I like buying crap for my cars. It's a sickness.

I've had Bose on my last two trucks.

On my '03 it was OK, better than a friends non-Bose, but not remarkable.

On my '08 it is simply phenomenal! Lots of "chunky" feeling base and sweet transparent highs. Fully customizeable, whereas the '03 was "here's what you get".
