Recirculating Will Not Stay On In My 07 Hvac

My 94 automatically went to recirculate mode when you started up the truck. Recirculate was the default mode. In my 07 the regulate mode in the does not tend to blow air out the vents when moving forward (which I like). When the truck is in the out side air mode it blows cold air in till it warms up, which I hate. Every time I turn the truck off and restart it, it goes back to the out side air mode that is default. I took it to the dealership and asked them if their was any way of reprogramming it to make the recirculate mode default and they told me no. That sucks! I'm done now......

:):)

I liked the AC MAX setting on my other trucks. My new one loses its memory everytime you shut it off too.

recirc button runs the AC compressor and will not stay on when it is cold out.

Or hot out (all the time). Looses memory when you turn off the truck.

Today was the first day that it was really hot enough for this situation to occur, but I was out on a multi-stop errand run and the cloud cover was varying the outside temp between the high 80s and the low 90s. When I started the truck in the 80s the HVAC would choose recirc and cool the cab down and switch to outside air. When the temp was in the 90s when I started the truck it would start in the outside-air mode and stay there. In either scenario it would run the blower fan on high until the set temp was reached. I did notice than when in the 90s and outside air mode was working, I could switch it to recirc but when in recirc on startup I could not switch to outside air. 90 degrees seems to be the magic temp for this logic decision.

On my 03, the setting for the climate control always return to the exact last setting for the specific driver, regardless of turning off the truck or changing drivers (1 or 2). It always returns to the setting for that specific driver. Amdient temp also does not make any difference.

Sounds like there was some change in the logic of of the climate control system.

I noticed this too... what's up with that logic? I'd prefer that it just stayed where you left it... but I'm already used to it. I suspect that folks were leaving it in recirc, fogging their windows, and then complaining about "why do my windows keep fogging up"... kinda like my wife did until I convinced her of what was happening.

Yeah, it's a real pain in the a$$. We have a fleet of new Tahoe'e here in Iraq and we have to remember to push the recirc button every time we start them or else it fills the cabin with sand (there's lot's of sand here in Iraq in case you were wondering). I noticed in my truck when it's cold out and the climate control is set to auto, the blower won't start blowing until the engine is warm enough to put out warm air, that part is very cool. I haven't driven my truck since it got warm (I deployed before the weather turned this spring) so I don't know how it behaves, but I would assume it's the same as the Tahoe.

I agree...i think this is the stupidest thing GM has done. I have had many several Siverados/Sierras and my new 08 Sierra (2 mos) has the default "outside air" mode. This drives me really crazy. I dont see why they cant make them like they used to, where it stayed in the mode you left it in. There has to be SOMETHING you can do??
