What Makes People Idiots?!?

I'm on my way to work at 5:30 am this morning. Travelling in the right lane on a six-lane interstate going through a construction zone. I travel conservatively in construction zones because I respect the guys working and I know I would not want to have cars/trucks flying past at 75+ mph 2 feet from me with nothing but an orange barrel as a seperator. A tractor-trailer is the center lane and left lane is wide open. My speed is slightly faster tractor-trailer so I'm slowly pulling past him, when out of nowhere a Ford Lightening is right on my tail (keep in mind, the left lane is wide open). The second he has the chance pass (and I still don't know how he did not hit the back of my truck), he cuts off the semi, passes me, then cuts me off and hits his brakes, causing me to hit mine and change lanes in hurry, then speeds off. As he speeds off, I realize his license plate reads "RN GM OVR".

Really??? People are so bothered by another make of car going down the road that they have to be a jack*ss and endanger not only other drivers, but workers on the side of the road? Luckly I'm older and wiser in my age now (compared to my younger days), or this event could have ended differently on this wed morning.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Man that sucks. I've noticed that some people just have to be jackasses when they drive. Its a compensation thing I think...ask Daddy about that.

Report his ass

At least it will be on file that he's had complaints against him for wreckless driving, making a cop more inclined to pull him over should he ever run his plates

Coincidentally, when I left work yesterday, I had a similar experience with a guy in a RC GMT800. He entered the freeway right in front of me and it was HEAVY traffic, moving about 40-45 MPH. Rush hour on I94 in St Paul, MN. After we are on the Freeway, he was 2 cars ahead of me and I witnessed him cut off a small Suzuki mini-SUV thing trying to move over into the center lane. To the point that if she hadn't hit her brakes and swerve, he would have hit her. A minute later, I notice him right next to me and a little ahead. Recalling what he did to her, I back off slightly cuz I could tell he was about to do it again...to me this time, before I even have a chance to react, sure enough, the a-hole cuts me off and now it's me hitting my brakes and swerving to avoid this a-hole hitting me. If I would have had a POS truck, I would have let the jacka$$ hit me. Funny thing is, after nearly causing 2 accidents, 10 minutes and several miles later, there he is, exiting the freeway. His reckless driving gained him exactly ZERO time. What a dumbass!!!

I hear ya Dan. I've found that people in the area where I live (around Buffalo, NY) to be, by and large, pretty good drivers. However, it seems as though something has happened in the past few months to change this. Many people are acting much more stupid and/or ignorant when they're driving now. I'm not sure if it's actually happening or if I'm just noticing it more, but it's pretty frustrating.

Interesting, same highway I was on (I94), just a different stretch (just crossed into IL from WI).

Some people are just pricks like that. That plate on the Lightning could get him quite a few paint key jobs there though.

The drivers ya'll are describing are the ones you usually see in the ditch a few miles ahead. Or stopped by the police. Nothing is more satisfying than seeing somebody who passes you like an idiot or cuts you off get pulled over ahead. Like one guy said, they'll get what's coming to them!

Some people are just tools. I agree with those above, call the PD and make a reckless driving report. It'll be in the system and maybe he'll be just a little more likely to get pulled over.

Man, I always wanted that to happen... some ahole cutting me off, driving crazy, then seeing him pulled over by the cops up ahead. I would love to be able to pull up to the cop, explain what I saw him do (to make sure he gets ticket'd), then laugh in his face. That would really make my day. Has anyone ever had that opportunity?

Never quite had this op but I have honked my horn and waved at a couple of people who had shoved me out of the way only to be pulled over a few miles down the road. I am not quite sure how the State Police knew exactly what they were driving and where they were headed. In Mississippi, *HP from any cell phones connects you to the nearest State Police office. What they really like are calls reporting people driving 85 with small children staning up in the back seat.

I will add one more thing. The Nissan Plant where I live has shift change at 6:30 AM. I am typicaly ahead of this and not in the way of many of the idiots who wort there. However, if I have had a late night I may be running a little late the next morning. If you are on the Interstate just ahead of the shift change, LOOK OUT. Those idiots are hell bent to get away from that plant. Many of them driving Titans and it is like they are in a race. You can write this in your book and just wait for it to happen. You will see on the news one day where there has been a multiple car pile up on I 55 South just above Jackson, MS.
