Suspension Lift Help, Anyone?

Recommended Posts

Posted

I'm trying to figure out which suspension lift to get for my truck. :) I for sure want the added ground clearance, as I do a lot of hunting and some offroading, and I've already scraped quite a few times (thank god for skidplates). I don't know that I quite want a 6", I'm thinkin more of a 4"... I want a lift that will keep the forward-leaning stance, not mess with my auto-trac, and that will not lean the truck backwards too much when I hook a trailer to the truck. I haul heavy loads sometimes, and was wondering if I'm just askin for too much in a lift??? Any help would be appreciated!

Right now I like the look of the GoRancho RS6583/B kit designed for 07-08 Silverado and Sierra. Can anyone tell me if this will work for what I want, and anything about it reliability-wise???

The rancho 4" seems to have what you need, from what I can tell.

Go for it.

But I would have a separate set of cheap rims and offroad tires in a bigger size for when I go offroad.

With a 4" lift, it won't look completely retarded (well, it might) if you run a tire that is just a tad larger than stock for your highway driving (like a 32/11.50 A/T) so that you don't need to re-gear the front and rear to make up for big tires, but will still allow you to run a 34/12.50 MT on some cheap U.S. Wheel/Cragar type rims for when you go hunt/trail ride/etc, which will aid in ground clearance when you need it.

And if you haul heavy loads, you are going to get some butt-sag no matter what you do, short of installing some type of airbag helper thing. Just remember to adjust your headlights when towing heavy objects at night. ;)

Rancho claims it. I thought we could stuff a 33 on stock rims with just a leveling kit, so a 4" should more than allow for a 34". Heck, the OP might even consider installing a leveling kit as well?

Honestly, you really should have no problem if you keep the rims close to stock specs.
