2002 Z71: Idler Arm

Recommended Posts

Well, I finally had the Bilstein 5100's installed on my truck this morning. It rides much better. The shop did a "shake down" test on my front end and said everything looked good but that the idler arm was very worn out. I had asked them to do an alignment check but they said they wouldn't recommend the alignment until the idler arm gets replaced because it won't hold the alignment with the way it is now.

Thoughts? Is this a hard DIY project? Is this a common part to go out?

The service manual calls for a couple of special tools but other than that it looks fairly simple.
