Bakflip G2 Vs Roll N Lock...yes I Searched

I normally don't stupid threads like this, but seeing that I don't really have 2 grand laying around to test my questions out, decided to go the cheap route...I took my toolbox off recently as I hit it too many times loading the 4 wheeler on the truck and going down the highway it looked like it was ready to burst open...So instead of buying another toolbox and probably bending that one too, I decided to look at bed covers...

My only issue is I work in construction and I also find myself helping people move their crap all the time, so your average hinged tonneau cover would not work well for me, so I'm looking at covers that are easy to roll/fold/retract, but I also would like a security aspect so soft rollup covers are out, as I plan on keeping my work tools in the bed when I'm not out 4 wheeling or hauling...Been searching this site and a few others, and I'm now looking at either the Bakflip G2 or a Roll-n-lock...I personally like the roll-n-lock more but it's about 1,200 bucks and the bakflip is 600...So any thoughts? Some pics would be good too, hard to find either one on a NBS Silverado.

Not exactly what you're asking, but I've heard good things about the Pace Edwards roll up tonneau.

+1 Pace Edwards Full Metal Jacket is what I would recommend, but if not I would say the Roll and Lock (I have no experience with the Roll and Lock but a little with the Full Metal Jacket)

Guess I'll entertain other ideas too haha...Basically I'd like to know what covers are out there that are at least semi-solid and can be locked in one way or other, but can be retracted enough to allow me to put a 4 wheeler in the bed all the way up. Also looking for an under-1,000 price tag...I can get your basic peel-n-roll cover for like 200 bucks all day long around here, but I don't like em much.

Nah, I wouldn't even be able to get it that high up, my loading ramps are almost 70 degrees horizontal to the ground when I put them on level ground, courtesy of my 33" tires and 3" rear spring lift...

I had a Roll N Lock on my 95 Sierra for eight years. It worked flawlessly.

That is until someone stole the truck and used a pry bar to separate it from the tailgate lock.

It was rock solid to the point I walked on it when washing the truck in order to get to the roof.

I have no experience with the others being mentioned.

I'd have one on my 08 if they still made them in silver. (Reflect sunlight)

Something about black (absorb sunlight) and Arizona that just don't mix. :jester:

It would likely get over 180 degrees in my bed if I went with a black Tonneau.

No, I don't mean that bed.

I live in FL and it don't get that hot around here haha, and we're past the peak summertime so I got 8 or 9 months of nice cool months. A Roll n lock is definitely want I want to step up to but money's pretty tight at the moment, just had to put a couple grand on a new hearing aid (old one blew a coil and they stopped making that model) not to mention I don't think I can get 1k saved up before long...So I'm looking at other models that may do the trick, I've found a few on Ebay for good prices but of course for the way wrong vehicle (Ford Rangers and Chevy S-10s, old stepside trucks etc)...

And before anyone thinks I'm an old fart, I'm 22 and I've had a hearing problem pretty much all my life, right ear completely shut down so got an internal implant going into the ol cochlea...
