Why No 6speed, And No Motors Larger Than A 5.3 For Long Beds?

In the 09 order guide, it indicates that none of the trucks available with a long bed, are availble with the new 6speed auto, nor can you get max trailering with a 6.0 or the 6.2 option. This seems just really odd to me. The trucks most likely to have a real need for the power for hauling and towing are limited to the old 4 speed and the 5.3 that is not know for it's pulling torque. Dodge, Toyota, and Ford, all offer there top motors and transmissions in there long bed trucks. Why don't GM.

I posed this question to GMC via an E-mail on Friday. They actually called me Saturday morrning to let me know that the order guide was correct, that the options were not availbe on the 09 GMC 1500. The person I spoke with seemed to understand my point, and is passing it on up the ladder so to speak.

I wonder what the deal is, the parts are clearly on the shelf at the plants, why can they not be ordered and put on the truck as it comes down the line?

As much as I hate to say it, if I were needing a new truck today, I would really have to take a hard look at the Toyota, sinc it is the only one on the market, I can get with a reg or ext cab with an 8 foot bed with the power and transmision that I am looking for. Namely something in the uper 300 range with 6 speed auto. Dodge does not have a 6 speed nor a ext cab long bed for 09, Fords have the 6 speeds and the cabs and bed configs, but there motors fall short. GM has cab and bed configs, but lacks completly in the powertrain area in those cab and configurations.

You can get the 6-speed in the long-bed,But only with the 5.3.

And you can get a 6.0 or 6.2 also with the 6 spd. but only with a short or standard-bed.

But from I'm reading here you want a 6.0 or 6.2 with the 6 spd. and a long-bed,correct?

True,But I think he wants a 1/2-ton.

I agree with him,They have all the parts needed...they should be able to build a 1/2-ton regular-cab long-bed,or an extended cab or crew-cab long-bed with the 6.0 or 6.2 and the 6 spd. Not just limit the 6.0/6.2 to the extended or crew-cab trucks with a short or standard bed.

I should be able to go in and get myself a RCSB with a 2500HD transmission and a 6.2L in a 2wd!! Or even one of those ls7's from a vette!
