Another Rough Country Leveling Kit Question...

Well i'm looking into getting a Rough Country Kit put on my 99 silverado. I've already got 285's on that fit fine but i want a more level look. My question is about the different options to buy. Do i need just the leveling keys or should I get the leveling keys with full kit? I want the truck to sit even with maybe a little raise in the front. I don't tow often enough where sagging is really a problem. Thanks for any help.

Leveling kits for torsion bar sprung trucks do nothing other than let you overcrank the torsion bars. The highest you can crank safely is about 1.5". Any higher than that, and you will wear out suspension and steering components much faster than normal (CVs, ball joints, tie rod ends, pitman arms, idler arms), all of which are essential to maintaining control of the truck. Not to mention your upper control arm will be very close to the droop stops, which will destroy any and all ride quality.

Yup, I sure am. If you want more height in the front, either crank the torsion bars with the stock keys no more than 1.5" (any higher will lead to the problems mentioned before), or spend the money for a true 3" suspension lift. Do it right the first time, there's no cheap way to lift a truck.

If you want a little bit of cali-lean, another option is to go with a 3" body lift, and remove the block from the rear axle.

Would i not be able to get around an inch more with the leveling kit than with cranking the stock keys?

I'm just curious because i've cranked them myself before but i did not get much height out of it. There is still a good bit of rake. I figured if i got a readylift or rough country leveling kit i would get a little more out of it?

not sure... what would stock be?

Well how much height did you gain when you cranked initially?

around 1/2-3/4"

Are your stock keys currently maxed out? If so, and that's all you gained, your torsion bars are probably worn out. How many miles are on the truck?

Well apparently it's a little closer to level than i thought. I measured from the middle of the wheel well to the ground in the back and front and i believe it came out to around 37.5" in the front and around 38.25-38.5" in the back. I guess i see it everyday so it doesnt look as level to me. Pretty sure my keys are maxed out. I guess now my question is... a leveling kit won't bring me up to the level of the back if not more?
