2009 6.0

Have a new 09 6.0 2500 HD and am feeling a slight hesitation when picking up the throttle. I just found out today that I have active fuel management. Is this what I am noticing or might there be a problem? I am easy and steady on the throttle and even see the tack hesitate, even when I dont feel it. If I jump on it, it seems OK. Also for the first tank I only got 10 mpg most all city driving. I'm hearing others at 14.

Welcome aboard I can't answer your question, but I've been driving an '05 with the 6.0 in it, and I like it.

Are you sure you have AFM? Because I don't think you do. Not in a 2500HD, unless something has changed recently.

 

I suspect what you are feeling is some of GM's nannies that keep their warranty claims down. That would be my guess anyway. If you want to get rid of that hesitation and make your truck more of a beast, I would (and have) get a custom tune.

I was told today at the dealer that all new 09 6.0 models do have AFM now. It was an option last year. The tech took my VIN# and is checking on it to be sure.

I agree with Robert. I have never heard of an HD having AFM. If they did implement it into the HD's, it would be worthless IMO. It would never kick in when towing or hauling a load.

The 6.0's in the 1/2 tons have AFM. This is for guys like Jeff so they can get better MPG's while picking up their groceries.

I think the AFM would do something on a trip with flat roads, but... normal day to day... it does nothing. I've got mine turned off right now and really don't see a difference. I ran a test with it on,... then off... and saw no difference in my truck.

I had the dealer verify it with my VIN # and I definately have it. I was told that it isnt even an option in 09. If you feel the hesitation also, please make the dealer aware of it. It will be the only way they make updated bulletins. If enough people complain, they can and will do something. If not, we get left with what could be a problem.
