Washed Clayed And Waxed My Truck Today

So i washed and waxed my truck today. Took forever for claybar. There was a ton or tiny rust spots in the paint. I used meguiars claybar and nxt wax. came out pretty good but i see alot of people do another step in between the claybar and the wax. a cleaner or something. what does that do?

 

Also now since a clayed and waxed will that prevent those rust spots from coming back or is that just from stuff kicked up and embedded in the paint? Seems to be worse around the wheels.

Yeah, you forgot sumthin, you forgot to do mine too! No expert on paint here, but those rust areas problems prob not going away. There are some products to neutralize the rust, but I've never tried any. That may be something to look into to help keepin it from getting worse.

The one step that you did not mention, and I hope that you did do it, was to wash the truck after the clay bar. I do one extra step, and it is because I love detailing soooooo much, is I wash with dish detergent to remove excess wax, then dry, then clay bar, then wash with good vehicle soap, then dry, then polish with Liquid Glass, then 2 coats of Meguires NTX wax. Then polish the chrome and the wheels. Normally takes me about 8 hours to do all this, but it looks smokin' hot when it is finished.

I just clayed my truck a couple of weeks back. I had those rust spots also, most came out but some didn't. It looks really good after all that work but damn... You guys have made me a believer in the clay bar, thanks.
