I only have about a thousand miles so far and have been disappointed thus far, getting about 15 MPG, but some of that was @ 75MPH with a birt bike in the back, some was just around town. I have 3.43 rear end, 275/55-20's.

for me 16-18 category.

in the past my 5.3L trucks would average about 16. with the AFM i see 17 but could be cuz i use cruise control more and try to be about the speed limit. that motor wont be "broken in" fully 'til about 10,000 miles and then you will see peak mpg.

same here, about 80% city driving...at 70-75 mph interstate type driving it's closer to 20 mpg (sometimes more if level terrain and favorable wind)...

My vehicle is in my sig. Took a 125 mile test road trip last week (80Hwy/20Cty). Filled and refilled at same pump. Set cruise on highway @ 69 MPH, and if off cruise, never took her over 75 mph. In the city, no jack-rabbit starts. Result - 19 MPG.

Now, I live in an area that is about 7 miles from the freeway, so downhill all the way there, and uphill all the way back (lots of stop lights). I drive probably 60-70% city and the rest highway and I like to go 75-80 on the freeway with the ac on most of the time. I consistently get 15 MPG. I've had the 5.3 in my '00, '04, on now my '08 - consistent 14-16 mpg in all of them with my driving habits.

I have a 2008 silverado with the LMG engine, 3.73 gears and I average 15.0 according to the hand calculations. I've recently started driving a little easier and have been averaging 16-18 per tank. I drive all sorts of speeds on the highways when open, from 65 all the way up to 85.

Instant mileage on the highway goes from 16 all the way to about 23 when I have cruise set. When I get my tune I'm going to see if Justin can keep my AFM engaged a little more and hopefully at decent speeds I'll be seeing a little better mileage.

I have 21,000 miles on my truck, not sure where the peak mileage happened, I have heard the same thing that CM6 said, about 10,000 is where it's the best.

2007, 1500, 5.3 w/ AFM. 3.42 rear end. 2wd. It has 7000 miles on it. 19 on the hiway 14 in town. On one 600 mile trip I seen 20.9 on the DIC. It ended up at 20.4 on the DIC on that trip.

16.4 average since new on my 4.8 RCSB and that is about 75% highway. It's not hard to imagine you getting 15-16 average. Unfortunately it is a fact of these trucks!

Like some of the others have said, I can get 18-19 all highway if I am really careful about keeping it at 70 or less. Most of the time (at about 80) I get about 16.5.

Thanks guys. I figured it would be better than my 4WD Tahoe, considering how heavy it is. Same engine, rear end and wheels. I guess it is the aerodynamics or lack there of on the truck that equalizes the weight advantage. Oh well, at least I don't look like a soccer mom any more ;)

I wasn't aware they made a FWD?? :withstupid:

If you drive backwards...

Or if your main drive shaft poops out, and you have 4wd, and are so inclined to keep going.

Yea, that drives me nuts too- it is the way the Chevy refers to it- a RWD and 4WD. Well DUH....
