2009 Silverado

Recommended Posts

Has anyone purchased a 2009 silverado with the 6.2 liter? I was curious as to gas mileage numbers with this engine. I read about the results motortrend got, but wanted to see if anyone had any "real world" numbers.

Also, does anyone know if you can get the 2009 silverado with the 5.3 liter and 6 speed tranny with 3.73 gears?

Yes I have. In the city, as long as you keep your foot out of the SFI you can maintain 14-15mpg... I have not been on the Highway much to give you an average. But i am very pleased with mine. Mine currently remains bone stock for about another month. Then on to HP tuners... Should help a bit, until i put my foot back in the SFI, lol.

I think all of the 5.3l with the 6speed transmissions have 3.73. gears as stock option. But i have focused on the 4wd versions since that is what I bought.

I have the 4wd, 5.3 with the 3.42's and the 6 speed and get around 17.8 with the cruise set at 78. If i slow to 70 i can get 19-20 wind dependant. I would really like the 6.2 but i am happy with the 5.3.....but im addin ARH long tubes this fall with an intake and tune. When i bought my truck to get the 6.2 you had to find a Denalli and i wanted a 40/60 front seat so i have what i have but am happy with what it does. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_W08DrhWSM theres a 0-60 ish video...if i want to go fast I get in the G8GT.

You might want to check out this thread : http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=79380

My "in town" mileage is usually somewhere between 14 and 15. On the road, I can usually get around 20 mpg or so. It varies, though, based on speed, terrain, etc. I've posted a few sets of #'s in that other thread, for different road trips, with descriptions of how I drove, etc.

Are you guys running 93 octane (premium) or 87 octane (regular). Is there any difference in the mileage?

Thanks

I have the 2009 Sierra 4x4 w/ 6.2, 6 speed & 3.42 gears, I also get between 14 & 15 mpg in the city.

Had a Silverado Z71 w/ 5.3, 4 speed & 3.73 gears......I was getting the same mpg in the city as the 6.2.

I have a 2009 Silverado with a 6.2 and im getting between 13-14 but i have bigger tires. Although it still gets around 17 on the highway if you take it easy. What are ya'lls fuel range monitors saying? Mine is from 350 to 360 miles per tank.
