1999 Sierra Fuel Filter Replacement

Can anyone tell me what size flare nut wrenches I will need to replace the fuel filter. I wasn't sure if was metric or standard. I need to pick up a set.

metric. though i replaced f-filter only about 1.5 mth ago, i already blisfully forgot the size, sorry. my set goes up to 15, so any set you buy should be ok.

let you on a little secret: vise grip works like a champ on those nuts.

be very careful changing the fuel filter

 

1. wear safety eye protection. the vehicle needs to not have been driven for some time as the normal fuel pump pressure in around 55 psi. So you want the fuel pressure to have time to bleed down.

 

2. use the correct flare tools as you should replace the filter about every 15K miles, so you will be back here at at later date and do not want to find the nuts all screwed up.

 

3. sometimes these connectors are very tight and you can break the fuel lines, you may want to spray a penetrating oil on the connectors a few days ahead to help loosen them
