The new 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X should be a beast. While GMC is teasing what the new Canyon will look like, here’s real photographs of an AT4X prototype with less camo than ever before.

2023 GMC Canyon AT4X: Our spy photographer reports
We finally got a close-up look at a less-disguised prototype for the next-generation GMC Canyon, and we caught it in its most off-road-ready form—the all-new Canyon AT4X.

With the heavy vinyl camouflage gone—wearing only a tight-fitting graphic wrap—we now have our best look yet at the front-fascia and full-body surface development applied to the thoroughly overhauled midsize truck.

This new lightly-covered prototype gives us our best look yet at the Canyon’s new ZR2-style high-clearance bumper design. The Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires are wrapped around basic steel wheels. It’s unknown if these wheels are just for testing purposes, or if GMC will offer a stripped-down set of steelies on its most trail-ready trim.

The Canyon AT4X will share the Multimatic DSSV shocks with the Colorado ZR2.
We’re still waiting for our first look at the next-generation Chevy Colorado in this more-revealing wrap, along with other trim variants of the new Canyon in other trim levels. Stay tuned for future sightings, which may be coming soon based on this breakthrough on this GMC Canyon AT4X prototype.
