	Idiots decided to stop making gas mowers and of course my 12 year old Honda took a dump on me this season. Searching for a new one i found that because of the crap state of California basically most manufactures have given up on gas power push mowers. Anything you will buy at a big box store today is trash, plastic transmissions and cheap flimsy cables, all made to fail within the first couple uses imo. That is proven by reviews, literally you have 0 choices today for a push mower unless you dip into commercial models.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	So i was lucky enough to find one of the few remaining dealers that still had a few Honda gas mowers left and at MSRP price and brand new. I decided to say screw it and bought an HRC model, build quality on this thing is just unseen with most product you buy today, its nice to see a piece of equipment not intentional designed to fail like most things today.

	Considering a QJ primarily for my smaller vehicles’ (two RAV4s and a Camry) maintenance (brakes, trans service, diff, transfer case).  Looking at both the 6000TLX and the 8000TLX.  These are rated at 6000# and 8000# respectively.  There are various adapters available for jacking points ( ex pinch welds, flat pucks, etc).

	Do any of you use the QJ for your truck and/or smaller vehicles? If so, which model?

</p>

<p style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#222222;font-size:small;">
	If you use on your truck, where do you place Jack points?  I know the owners manual for my truck calls for (at least for spare tire changing) between shock mount and leaf spring pack u bolt for rear and built in round point near frame for front.  Obviously from the the rear axle to front jack point makes it too long of a spread for the QJ which has a max spread of 66”.

<p>
	Several seasons ago I bought a STIHL string trimmer and leaf blower. Both utilize a 50:1 mix BUT as I would find out over a few seasons not just any old mix will do.
</p>

<p>
	Seems STIHL went out of their way to use a diaphragm material that really doesn't like Ethanol. It doesn't gum up. It....well....melts for lack of a better term. Of course having created a problem they also created a cure! Who knew, right? Make a mystery fuel that is diaphragm compatible. Then sell if for a Kings Ransom. Local? Over $8 a quart, $36 a gallon. Of course it's always good to use a ratio that will assure you buying another long before you should ever need to. During the repair the richen the mix to help engine life but it takes the guts out of it.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I had one repaired and replaced the other and told my dealer it would be the last STIHL products I ever buy if this is the plan.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Locally I can buy alcohol free 90 octane 'recreational' fuel for $3.19 a gallon. A quart of AMSOIL 2 stroke oil and a bottle of GUMOUT Regane.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	1 Gallon of gas. 1 Ounce of Regane (PEA) and 3 ounces of AMSOIL for a 43.3:1 mix that cost with my AMSOIL discount $5.28 a GALLON. Runs like it did new at a fraction of the cost and is shelf stable for at least six months. I still drain and run dry for season end but...it goes year after year.

	Well last March I moved in with my now wife as her house in our opinion offered more (mainly the backyard and bike trail access).  The only thing really lacking was garage space as it only had a 2 car garage.  I also added a 10x12 shed in the backyard.   Started planning a garage build and surprisingly with the HOA and town it went fairly smooth (approval wise).  The build started in July 2022 (contracted).  Size wise it is 14 x22 and stores my car and tools.  Enjoy some photos <span><img alt=":)" data-emoticon="" height="20" src="https://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/uploads/emoticons/default_smile.png" srcset="https://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/uploads/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" title=":)" width="20" /></span>

Does anyone have one and are they worth it?  There's tons of youtube videos, but none really say if they're a waste of money or not.

<p>
	Hey guys.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	So I just bought a house this past fall and now spring is coming up here pretty quick.  I have a little less than a half acre of land.  It's pretty much an open space both front and back.  My lot is more or less a square shape, although a little bit wider than deep.  The previous owner used a garden tractor/lawn tractor (i'll keep using the term lawn tractor from here out as it seems garden tractors are higher end lawn tractors capable of heavy duty work, which I do not need) to cut the yard.  I am thinking I definitely want to do the same... doesn't really seem like something I want to push mow... would take a while just by looking at it.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I am looking to spend $2,000 or less.  Anyone have any recommendations on what to get? My knowledge is like nothing on these.   My grandparents have a newer Craftsman up at the cottage, it has been great but I believe they said it was $2500-2700.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	When I bought my snowblower this past fall (shout out to the Toro 724 qxe - thing has been awesome even in 4 inches of wet sloppy snow), the guy was showing me a Husqvarna LGT2654 26 HP for about $1800.  I did a couple searches and videos on YouTube, people seem to like it.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Any thoughts from you guys?

<p>
	I need to do something with my driveway, right now it is just gravel and I'm tired of picking the gravel out of my lawn every spring. I'm not paying $30k to do concrete, I don't mind the $12k for asphalt, but Tar and chip is significantly cheaper and I'm wondering if anybody on here has it and If you'd recommend it? I won't be doing all tar and chip or asphalt, there is a bit go concrete going in at the front of the garage where I work on my cars, but for the part that's just for parking I'm looking for a cheap, simple solution to shitty gravel.

	Any opinions?

<p>
	Hey all,
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I recently came across garagejournal while poking around looking at info for building a garage (which I hope to do in the next 2-3 years to start some bigger projects). Boy oh boy are those some opinionated folks over there. While I've got a lot more poking around to do I have been looking at a lot of the reviews for the new HF Icon line of tools, and everything looks real solid about them. I bought a torque wrench to replace my crappy Craftsman one and have been impressed with it's initial quality (time will tell how it holds up).
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I know HF seemed to have exclusively garbage in the past but seem to have really turned things around in the past few years with many more quality items. I'm curious to know what tool brand you would all recommend. I refuse to spend money on Snap-On/Mac/etc. I just don't use them for a living and can't justify the cost. I've been bitten a few times by Husky and Kobalt (although maybe they have turned around in recent years as well) and Craftsman is pretty much dead to me.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I'm not looking for used tools because I don't want to go through the hassle of QCing everything and worrying about where to find X or Y, I'd rather just buy new and preferably from the same spot, but I don't need everything matching, just makes life simpler.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Anyway, what are everyones thoughts here? People still live by Craftsman? Snap-On or nothing? What is your recommendation for solid middle of the road tools?
</p>

	So a friend of mine gave me his almost 20 year old Murray 22" push mower.  Original oil, spark plug and filter(s).  It wants to stall on the turns, regardless of which direction you turn, or how far you turn, 90º or 180º.  I'm going to start by changing the oil, filter(s), and spark plug.  Any other options or suggestions?

<p>
	Hi Folks-
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I have a 3 year old Ryobi cordless drill.  It came with 2 Lithium 18V batteries and up until the summer of 2017 everything worked great, however both batteries are now toast.  The cost of new batteries is almost more than the cost I paid for the kit new.  Where do you like to get your batteries for your drills and other battery equipment from?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Next question- what is your favorite brand of equipment to use?  I grew up with Dewalt being the brand of choice and have a 15 year old Dewalt screw gun which saw a lot of hard use but is still going well.  I purchased no name replacement batteries for them from EBAY and while they don't hold the charge as long, they still get the job done.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	  I'm contemplating purchasing the Dewalt drill next but wanted to see what you opinions/pros cons are on the brands you have had experience with.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Cheers
</p>

<p>
	So a little back story, I've been using my 1/2 ton GMT400 Suburban to plow for several years.  It is a Western Pro 8ft with Ultra-Mount setup.  The plow is a little heavier than that truck should be handling, so it was one of the reasons (among others) that I specifically got a 3/4 ton 800 with the Big Block.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	So yesterday I put my Ultra-Mount truck side mount on the 2003.  Put the receivers on, and thought...  WTF...  This looks like it sits lower.  Sure as crap, when I put the two trucks nose to nose, and measured, to the top of the mount on the GMT400, it was 17" off the ground.  I did the same on the 800 and it was 15" off the ground.  Not to mention, the mounts on the 800 sit much further out than my 400.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	So I'm a little frustrated.  The whole impetus here was to get a 2500, get a little more ground clearance for the delicate Ultra-Mount parts as well as the angling ram parts, and here I am sitting 2" lower before even mounting the plow.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Are others with 800's seeing the same?  Any solutions?  I already have one size larger tires on it, and will be buying a new set of tires another size bigger here in the near future, but...
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	See how far they stick out...
</p>

<p>I have been looking at buying a new trimmer to replace my 14yr old Shindaiwa T230.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>I am looking at another Shindaiwa, the T242, and an Echo 2620. I have considered the Redmax, but for the money feel the Shindaiwa or Echo is the better value, plus a 5yr warranty!</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Anyone use one of these trimmers, or a similar model to the ones I am looking at? I know Echo owns Shindaiwa, and the trimmers are similar to each other.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Not interested in other trimmers due to dealer support if needed. </p>

<p>
	I'm debating what type of plow to buy for my truck.  I have a 2013 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE extended cab and was wondering if there were any suggestions as to what type of plow I should get.  I am only using it for my own driveway and I have a tendency to baby my truck, after all, that's how you get them to last for you.  I have read a few forums and have seen many suggestions about upgrading 1500's to a 2500, but that is just not in the budget.  I do not have any intention on driving it hard.  The plow will go on when we have a storm, and it will be coming back off after I'm done with the driveway, so I guess a quick release mount would be good.  This way, I get around the predicament of it wearing out the front end of the truck.  I'm a self-proclaimed newbie and this is the first post I've ever taken part in, so I'm interested in what people with experience have to say.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	PS...don't get too much into the technical side of things....I'm just a newbie when it comes to plows and truck talk.

	Since we live in the mountains there is not a yard.  I wanted to add something to our lot. This was due o boredom to some extent but also to dress up the place. I decided to build a mine headframe. Fits into our local history.
</p>

<p>
	It was a fun project. Finding a pulley to complete it was the hardest. It is 10 feet tall.
