2005 Duramax suddenly won't move. Put it in drive and it clanked loudly. Giving code of shift inhibited. It was running fine when we parked it a week ago. A friend said it could be the NSBU switch. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Hi I need some technical help! I have an 03 GMC with 8.1 and need a trans rebuilt due to overheating while towing. I found a good used trans from an 05 Dmax with 32K on it. I need to know if anyone has done a swap and if the electronic side will work with the gas verse's the diesel. I know the diesels are set up a different but know one knows for sure what is exactly different. I don't want to make a $1,500 dice roll and have to do this twice. Thanks for any feed back.

I've had no issues with the transmission up to this point. 3 weekends in a row i've had the camper up and down the hills of PA. Suddenly, the Monday after the 3rd trip, cruising down some local roads, the transmission would suddenly drop out of gear. I let off the throttle for a sec, truck picks the gear back up, and off I go. Started maybe once in 30 miles, and after several days, it happens every couple miles. And happens in most mid-range gears. Once it's in 6th on the highway, i'm good for the trip. fluid levels are fine, spin on filter replaced. replaced the NSBU switch because that seams to cause gremlins. checked all the grounds and checked thru all the wiring for chafing and could find nothing the only code i get is an intermittent u1016 code any help out there???

Hey guys so I have a 2009 GMC sierra 2500 LMM duramax/allison ext cab 4x4 black. I live in Ontario Canada and was wondering about doing and EGR DPF delete. What kits should I look into and what tuners/programs? Is this super expensive to do? I know a bit about it but not very much. Looking for insight on this. What should I delete and what is required to perform the delete. What are the cons and pros of doing this? Thanks guys! Pic appon request !

Hi all! I am new to this site so I apologize if this is posted in the wrong section. I have an 07 LBZ duramax and just drove 3000 miles towing 4500 lbs. I know this is not a significant amount of weight, but I thought that might be useful knowledge for the problem I am having. About 4000 miles ago when shifting from drive to reverse, or reverse to drive, I began getting a pretty hard gear engagement. my driveline seems tight. On my road trip at one point I lost tranny temp and the light that illuminates "drive" went out. I had "tow/haul" engaged, and had an indicator light, but it did not seems to actually be running in tow mode as the tranny wouldn't downshift when i was braking, and my shifts were not as hard as they should have been. I shut the truck down and restarted it and same thing. I restarted it again and everything was normal and I have put about 1500 miles on it and not had the problem reoccur. I will say that on my trip my trans temp was all over the place, but never over 205 (150-205). I stopped in Reno, NV and went to taho with out the trailer and my temp was around 205 with outside temps around 80. Do I have a serious problem brewing? my biggest concern is the slamming into gear. I have noticed that if i shift to N and pause a second before going into a gear it happens significantly less. Any help is appreciated! I should add that I have 158k on the truck, and do not get any codes with these problems.

Have an excellent drive-line for your conversion/project. It's a 2002 Silverado 3500 4X4 dually, bed and frame rusty. Frame would not pass NY inspection. Duramax 6.6 Turbo Diesel, Allison 5sp auto, 2 speed manual transfer case, 373 gears, nice tires on 16" budd wheels, dump works. Under 70,000 original miles, runs & drives excellent. Would like to trade for a streetrod project, backhoe or sell it for 4K. Located in Champlain, NY 12919

I have a 2003 2500HD silverado with the Allison transmission. A week ago I left home with it and the shifting was fine, but when I got to town it would not go into park. It shift through all other gears perfectly, but when I pull the shifter back it will slide up to where park is, but instead of locking in and engaging, it softly springs down into reverse, I'm not sure if I can adjust it or I need a new cable
