Hashed out repeatedly with no apparent way out. But what I have figured out is a simple behavior mod on my own part. Mine was really only a problem when I would get in, start the truck, then buckle my seat belt. Reverse process, get in (can put key in ignition but don't start the truck) buckle seat belt then turn key = no chimes at all. Passenger seat belt chime seems to be on a delay, so even if I get ahead of passenger, 9 times out of 10, there's enough of a delay that it still doesn't go off. Yes it will still chime if key is left in ignition and door is opened, just need to remember to remove key. No, not totally disabled, just defeated - and liveable now.

I am ready to take my '18 Acadia back for a refund. The door chime is insanely loud and I am almost deaf! And yes, I have the chime volume turned all the way down on the Bose entertainment system. I have a sound level meter & plan on measuring the level. As a retired GM Engineer, I can't imagine how the GMC engineers would permit such a continued mistake. I looked thru this forum & online & this has been a constant complaint item for years. It is what we used to call a "Perennial" back when I was working. It has to be a continued and significant warranty cost to GM. I would like to contact the Acadia Chief Engineer and ask her/him what they were thinking & how do I get it fixed. I know there are bulletins out there for older vehicles. Is there a bulletin for the 2018 that I can reference when I take it back to the dealer? Thanx - Bob

2004 GMC Yukon keyless remote locking, door chime, radio issue
nicbanhan posted a question in Ask the GM Technician
2004 GMC Yukon Installed an aftermarket radio and custom LED lights now when I use my keyless remote to lock the truck and shut the door you can still hear the door chime and it's chiming really fast and doesn't stop and eventually the battery drains. But if you open the door back up and stick the key in the ignition and turn the car on it stops. If I do not use the keyless remote to lock the car and use the door lock then everything's fine. When I unlock the car with the keyless remote everything is fine the issue is when I lock it with the keyless remote this is when I have this problem Any ideas what's going on -
My 2004 Chevrolet Silverado Z71 extended cab truck will randomly set off the alarm when sitting with the doors locked. It will also randomly post a drivers door ajar message while driving even though the door is shut and latched. Also sometime the radio will not shut off when the key is pulled. It will also do the key in ignition chime when the truck is off and the drivers door is closed. Sometimes the interior lights will not extinguish when the doors are closed. It appears to me that it must be related to the drivers door latch switch but I can't seem to find anything online as to how to troubleshoot the switch. I suspect the switch is bad in the door latch or else the wiring is broken from the door to the body from years of opening and closing the door. If anybody has pointers/schematics as to how to troubleshoot it I would appreciate it.
