Im a bit hard of hearing so I wanted a little more sound out of my Z71, not a lot cuz im an older guy. Well, I found some vids on u-tube about a flapper valve and muffler delete, sounded pretty mellow to me, so I tried it ! It was great cruising around town, very mild with some throaty tones here and there, however ! When you get on the highway and are in a slight uphill area, the droning starts in the cab , and if you are also bucking a headwind it gets quite annoying , on a long trip it would really suck ! Now my system is back to stock except i left the adaptive valve off, and its perfect, no droning ! With 3 cats and the resonator in place you can even put on a Flowmaster 40 and you will get almost no sound difference. The factory muffler is made by Fuercia and there is no restriction, they use noise canceling technology that uses no restriction at all, so the only restriction in the system at all is the (flapper) or adaptive valve, just in front of the muffler If you really want to get the sound level up to the bad boy level ,you are going to have to delete the third cat, muffler, and resonator, then go with a Flowmaster 44 or someting like that !
