  1. Check out the video I posted on YouTube regarding the issue I am having... 2016 Silverado The function buttons (Radio, Phone, Nav, Text) buttons at the top of the tech screen and the radio function buttons at the bottom of the screen disappear sometimes... Not all the time. And there is no specific duration they stay on or specific frequency they turn off. Sometimes they will be there for my entire commute, sometimes within seconds of turning on my truck they disappear, and sometimes it's within 5-10 mins. It's annoying as all hell. The buttons come back if I tap the screen but I figure they are supposed to be up there all the time and should be. Brought my truck to the dealership for oil change, inspection etc... and had them look at. They said they reset the system and 10 mins down the road after leaving the buttons blinked out again. Anyone else have this issue, know how to fix it, etc...?
  2. Hello, I've read a lot of threads on different GM vehicles from Cruze to Silverados. One of my buddies have a 2015 2500HD Silverado with the 8" MyLink infotainment system. He reported about a month ago his system just went to a black screen, he could hear his music fine, press different areas of the screen and it would accept input (still black screen) From a bunch of reading, I had him check the ground between the windshield and A-pillar and it seemed find with no pinch of insulation. He eventually bought a new touchscreen but it did the same thing. Which leads me to believe nothing was wrong w the other screen either. If I had to guess it would be the HMI module? We have no dealerships here in Central America. What was the "fix" for this? We also tried pulling the fuse and it does nothing. We also disconnected the Touch screen from the module and it worked for maybe an hour and it went back black. Any help is appreciated. I really hope this does not happen to my High Country. Thanks, Keagan
  3. Does anyone know how often we can expect software updates? I think the My Link system has some nice features but I also think there are some much needed changes to provide a better user experience..Here are a couple basic issues I have found and would like fixed. There is a post in the 1/2 ton section about this too.. 1. You can preset your favorite channels but as you cycle through the channels with the steering wheel button the channels (5 at a time) that show on the bottom of the screen do not automatically move to the next 5. The only way to get the next set of 5 to show is to touch the screen and swipe, and that doesn't work too well. I would like to see the presets follow along as you cycle through the channels with the steering wheel button. 2. The next issue is with the steering wheel button used to scan the favorite channels. This is very annoying, to flip through the channels you need to first hit the button on the left rear of the steering wheel, this pulls up the menu, then you have to hit it again to actually change the channel. The really frustrating part is if you pause for like 2 seconds to see if you like the song, the menu goes away…then you need to hit the button to pull up the menu again then hit the button again to change the channel…and this process continues as you search, very frustrating. 3. Use of phone calling. If you receive or make a call, the phone menu pops up on the screen. Once the call has been completed that menu stays on the screen rather than reverting back to the screen you were at prior to making or receiving the call. Not a big deal but it is distracting and an annoyance. 4. NAV system..Maybe someone can help with this..On my wife's 2014 Enclave, the NAV will split screen and show in advance what services (Gas, restaurants etc..) that are available at the next 3-4 exits. The My Link System doesn't seem to do this unless I'm just missing it somewhere. This feature is handy if you're running low on fuel and deciding how long you can go before the next stop and when fuel, food will be available. Also, there is no option to split screen the upcoming turns along with estimated time of arrival and remaining miles, these are both available on the Buick Intellilink system. Bottom line, some great features but as always the difference is in the details, I just hope GM listens and can incorporate some changes into future software updates. I think we should post requested changes somewhere and have those sent to Chevrolet/GMC for future updates…just a thought
  4. Today I was driving down the highway when all of the sudden my radio froze up. It was on XM at the time so I tried to switch it to iPod or regular radio and it wouldn't let me do anything. I pulled to the side of the road and turned off my truck and opened the door thinking that it would reset the radio and go back to normal but even with the truck off and door open the screen still stayed in its frozen state. I then sat there and waited for about 5 minutes and the screen finally went off so i restarted my truck and guess what...the screen is black and doesn't come on at all. Let the truck sit for a few hours and it is still in the same state. Not only is the screen black but none of the buttons around it are lit, as you can see in the attached picture. Everything in this truck must be linked to the my link screen because now my backup camera, phone bluetooth, and voice commands all do not work. Also, when I put my blinkers on they do not make the clicking sound and when i turn my engine off the interior leds no longer come on. Also, when the key is in and the door is open it no longer chimes. I will try to call the dealership tomorrow and get an appointment on Friday but can someone please tell me what is going on?? Did I mention that my truck is not even 3 months old yet and only has 4,000 miles. Please Help!
  5. Howdy from TX. I've had my 2014 Silverado LT since about end of Dec 2013. It's a retirement truck so I paid cash for it and that sure makes it a sweet ride. I don't rack on very many miles at all. I do have one pressing question regarding My Link. Has anybody on here tried syncing a HTC One M8(2014 model)? I'm using a iphone 3GS now and it works flawlessly. Was thinking about updating cell to above but was wondering if it would be flawless too. Called GM they didn't know. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Dennis(Doc)
