I have a 2001 Suburban 2500 LT (200,000 miles) I have owned since new, and I am at my wits end with a fuel gauge issue. 6.0L, auto trans, single fuel tank. The fuel gauge reads accurately, but on occasion, the fuel gauge goes to below empty and the low fuel light comes on. I have replaced the fuel pump/fuel sending unit 3 times in the last 2 years and this problem has never been resolved. Last fuel pump was an after market pump since GM has had problems with their fuel sending units going bad prematurely. I thought there may have been a bad connection since all the manufacturers give you crimp connectors. The last time, I soldered the connections when I changed out the electrical plug to eliminate the possibility of those connections being bad. I also used silicon dielectric compound on the plug in that goes to the top of the pump. I have not removed the gauge cluster nor have I changed the PCM...yet. Any ideas? After changing the last fuel pump, the car only went 1 hour before acting up again. Incidentally, this has been one of the best vehicles I have ever owned...except for this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all in advance.

2003 Chevy Silverado 1500 4.8L This is my first post on any kind of forum but I am desperate for answers because I am unable to find info anywhere else online. Today I had my instrument cluster fixed by a guy who says he has done several. The gear indicator, oil pressure gauge, and the backlighting were not working properly. When I went to pick up my truck today he explained to me that everything was working except the fuel gauge. The gauge has worked with no problem until today. He claims that the fuel gauge is not getting a good connection because it has a bad lead, which I've never heard of. The gauge starts to bounce a little when I turn the key on but stops after about 3 seconds or so, which tells me it's getting power. He replaced the stepper motor with a new one. Any ideas on what it could be? I put a full tank of gas in it after I discovered it wasn't working

My fuel gage says it full when it is full but it only goes to 1/2 tank when it's almost empty. (8 gals left on a 28 gal tank) Can it be recalabrated? Just bought the truck 80K miles.
