Well, I sure could use some help right now!! Ive got a 2011 Chevy Silverado crew cab Texas edition 4x4 truck. I bought the truck new in 2010. The other day I was driving my truck and my speed was approx 30mph. I was doing a slow acceleration in the truck at the time. All of a sudden I lost power in the truck and like most others say it(truck) entered a "limp mode". I was able to drive the truck back home as I was only a mile away from there. After a few days I decided I needed to take the truck in to the dealership as I'm no good doing any kind of work on any vehicle plus I'm fully disabled. I dropped my truck off at the dealership and was told it would be ready later on that day. At 5pm I received a call from the service department and was told they were still looking at the truck. This was on a Tuesday. On Wednesday I received another call from the service department and was told my truck had a mis fire in the engine. They said it would be a few more days until they had it fixed. Finally on Friday I received another call from the service department and a I was told the truck was ready. When I picked the truck up, no one said anything to me as to what they did to fix the truck. I did get the paperwork on the truck when I signed for it and picked it up. The paperwork stated they had to get into the drivetrain and tear it down! They stated they replaced the pistons, rings, gaskets, bolts, and so on. They also had to do an oil change as well. All of this was done for an engine "backfire"?? None of this makes much sense to me, but like I say im not a mechanic by any means. Ive read so many bad things in the forum from other Chevy owners about the known issues with these trucks and years of them. From the oil consumption issues to the loss of power issues as well as the problem a I had. What I'm needing to know is this. And let me STSRT by saying ive already read two other post where two different owners said that by having the pistons and rings replaced hasnt fixed their problems. So thats my question to anyone that can help that knows a little something about this mess. Since the work was done, and thank God it was under the powertrain warranty with one month left before it expired! But after having this work completed should I feel safe that the truck is now fixed of this entire issue, like with the spark plugs having oil all over them and the mis fire. I'm assuming that a vehicle can have a mis fire at any time but to have a mis fire like mine did along with this massive repair it just doesn't make sense to me. The total on the paperwork was over $4K!!! I'd be so upset if I keep the truck and then something like this turns right around and happens again. The truck only has 27000 miles on and its five years old based on me buying it in 2010. And as you all know its not a cheap truck esp being the Texas edition! So should I feel comfortable that the work that was completed fixed the problem with the mis fire and that I wont have something like this happen again esp something with cost like this? I know no one can tell the future, but someone out there that has more info on this than me could maybe offer me some advise. I hate to sell the truck, not because a i love it. As I dont love the truck at all its just transportation, but I really dont want to have to deal with selling it and buying something else. The truck has been paid for, for awhile now. It still dealer books for $27000 and to an individual like $31000. So a I guess id have a good down payment for another vehicle but being disabled now, its so much harder for me to get around much less having to deal with sales people! So any help from anyone on this topic would be greatly appreciated! Thanking you all in advance, and please no picking at me for not knowing much when it comes to motors. My dad was never around so I never got to learn this stuff when I was younger. I know I could have taught myself some of this stuff but its much easier to learn when you have someone right there with you to show you this kind of stuff. So thanks for the help!!
