  1. Here is an Update Oct.23 2023 it's been a year now since the driver's door switches have been replaced, I have NOT had one issue with the push start not working as it should. It seems my problem has been solved. This was very frustrating to say the least. I hope everyone else with this issue gets it taken care of.
  2. Ginger Olson, Sorry you are having the same issue. and It does sound like the exact same thing my truck does. Take a video of what its doing and of you putting foot on brake and pushing the Button and send it to your service rep at the dealership. That's how I finally got them to stop and investigate deeper. For my truck they replaced the drivers door latch. which did not help. this last time they replaced the drivers window master switch. I am 3 weeks in with no issues after the window switch replacement. I'm knocking on wood as I'm typing this. LOL The cooperate technician says everything points to the drivers door. I hope you can get some help. please keep us posted.
  3. Doug1234 That is very interesting to me that it happened to them. Please keep me updated as to what they do. I am now a week and 5 days since they replaced my drivers window switch. So far no issues but it has to work correctly for a few months before I say that fixed the problem. Keep us updated.
  4. Dejadoo the dealer did suggest that I might have something interfering. I removed everything. The E-Z pass, the RFID chip to my house door and anything else I could think of and did not help my issues. Doug1234 sounds like you and I have the same issue going on. when my issue come up my fob works for everything. doors, tailgate, remote start but I would get the learning remote message and the trucks push start button won't let me go anywhere. I wait and hour or so and come back to truck and everything is fine and works as it should until the next random time it decides to act up.
  5. Doug1234, my truck does give me the "Learning remote please wait" message in the DIC when it acts up. I've had the remote batteries replace twice now over the last year and had them reprogramed as well. Did not solve the issue. Its been a week now since the window switch has been replace and so far no issues. If its going to follow the previous patterns it should act up here soon.
  6. Hey Doug1234 They (GM) has not figured this out for my truck as of yet. About a month ago they replaced my drivers door latch? Telling me that it wasn't telling the computer that someone entered the truck So, it wasn't looking for the Start Button to be pushed. That didn't help. About a week later the truck acted up again and it spent over a week at the dealership. They came back and said they were going to try a new drivers door window switch. Telling me that everything loops through the door and that is what GM wants to do for the next troubleshooting idem? So, I really have no faith that it will solve the issue but its been 5 days now without it happening. Please update me here as to what they tell u. My service rep actually told me that he was surprised that GM hasn't done a "buy back" on my truck. I told him they won't because I'm the 2nd owner. I bought it as a GMC certified vehicle with 12K miles on it. He says yes being the 2nd owner I lose those rights. Kind of stinks for me. so I all I can do is be a pain in their side until this is fixed. I have 20,000 more miles to get it right. fingers crossed. Hope u get better results.
  7. Back to square one! Went to get in the running truck Sat. morning and once again it wouldn't let me take control. Had to take another vehicle to do what I set out to do, came home 7 hours later, tried truck and worked like nothing happened. This is so frustrating because the dealership can't get it to do it when it at the shop. Its been a little over 3 weeks since the last incident.
  8. Here is a update on this after happening 2 more times. My dealer service rep. contacted GM cooperate for Tech support on this issue. He sent them my videos and they took a few days and reviewed them.. The Technician at cooperate came back and suggested that the dealer replace the drivers door latch and locking mechanisms. The thought is that the drivers door is not communicating that its been opened and someone got in the truck, therefore the push button wouldn't work because it thinks no one is in the truck to push that button. So 3 days in and so far the issues has not presented itself. Time will tell. Its no wonder these trucks need all these computer chips and cost so darn much. Who would have thought the drivers door tells the truck when its been opened? I would rather just put a key in the dash and turn it. Than to have this ridiculous push button, And I never know what to do with the remote once I'm in truck. then I always forget to take it with me after driving. and I get the 3 horn beeps reminding me.......
  9. I'm going to be a little stubborn here. I'm not going to remove the car wash membership sticker. I have removed all other RFID signals one by one. and removing those didn't stop this from happening. So I don't believe its getting confused with other signals. If it is then GM needs to fix truck. I'm sure there are thousand of GM Cars/trucks working just fine with a easypass transponder stuck to the windshield.
  10. gemarsh-- you asked ( When it fails to start during a remote/app start, will the remote, unlock the doors?) The truck never fails to start with the app or the remote.. it fails to let me take control. ( engine is already running ) BUT when it starts (acting up this way) I can't do any thing except start engine and turn off engine with the app or remote. It won't let me just turn truck off and start it with foot on brake push the button. it wont do any thing at that point. and if I start it to many times with the remote or app. the truck will go into theft mode? when truck fails to let me take control the only thing I can do is to leave it sit for and hour or so and then it will act completely normal. I take it to the dealer and obviously they can't duplicate the issue. I have even recorded what happens and show them the recording and they say they need it to happen when it's there. So they do their checks and tell me everything checked out fine nothing they can do at this point. A month or so later truck will do the same thing.
  11. Thanks for the responses. gemarsh - the remote features all work when this happens, It will unlock/lock doors, it will open tailgate, it will shut the engine back off and it will restart the engine. This Failure to let me take control has happened all 3 ways, using the app, using the fob, and just getting in and try starting it by putting foot on brake and pushing the button. I started switching ways of starting the truck since the 1st time this has happened trying to eliminate what it could be. The last visit to the dealer they suggested it could be interference of maybe a toll road easypass? or my Gym and work RFID card passes? something of that type. I have removed all of these with the exception of a window sticker that has a chip in it for my car wash membership. (hard to remove that one). and if it is one of these things you would think all the vehicles would pose this problem. So I think the dealer is grasping at straws? So I'm at a loss with a untrusting vehicle. Boy do I wish I had my 2014 truck back.
  12. I have tried both remotes when it won't let me take control of the truck. Did not make a difference.
  13. the truck will give me "No remote detected" if I try and start it with the remote left in the house. does the remote need to be put in the "remote holder" all the time? I have never done that. I just keep it in my pants pocket. Should I be putting it between the cup holders?
  14. gemarsh, Thanks for the reply. here are my answers for your questions. I sometimes get "remote Learn Pending please Wait" in the dic but I have not seen "No remote detected. " I will try the leave the remote away from the vehicle and try starting with the push button. and see what happens. I have the full center console design. I did not know that there is a specified holder for the remote. should the remote be in a specific spot when I'm operating the truck?
  15. 2020 GMC 1500 SLT with 27K miles. I can start the truck with the app and/or the key fob remote start. When I get in truck I put my foot on brake and push the button and It won't let me take over. Engine is running, But I can't shift, I can't do anything other then turn the truck off with the App/ or remote. I repeat to get the same result. I try to just start truck from the push button and nothing. This has happened several times ( 6 times in less than a year). Sometimes I get learning remote please wait. but nothing happens. I have to walk away from the truck and I wait for an hour or so and then truck works normally. I've had truck to dealer 3 or 4 times now. They can't duplicate the problem. We have replace key fob batteries twice now with the same issue. Dealer is at a loss and so am I. Dealer has checked for software updates and has reprogramed the truck. Nothing has helped, and there is nothing like wondering of your $60K truck is going to let you go to work. Anyone got any Ideas?
