  1. Well, thanks, Davester! I thought about it, and I checked earlier tonight—there's no difference between the U.S. and Canadian owner manuals. The only recommendation is 5W-30 Dexos 1 Gen 3. That feels pretty thin for a working truck hauling in 100°F, but I guess it is what it is. In the past, we always had a chart in the manual that provided some flexibility, but I guess that's no longer the case.
  2. Here in canada they recommend 5w30 with no other choice, what about you guys in the usa living in arizona or texas. No opinion needed, i just need to know what is in you owner manual thanks
  3. Its one way to do it but its not for everybody ...
  4. Ahhh the f...g dealership i hate them with passion
  5. My truck is going to the dealership on Monday, but I’m not expecting much. I assume they’ll just say, "it is what it is." I’ve measured around 10 HD trucks on their lot, and none are perfectly even on both sides—they vary from 1/2 to 1 inch. Mine, however, is at 1 1/2 inches. Bent frame? I’m not sure. I’m curious to know what specifications these trucks are supposed to meet on a frame machine—GM must allow for pretty wide tolerances.
  6. May I ask you why you ran away from Ram ? Dealership attitude, the cummings, or the truck itself or .... all the above
  7. I stand by my position that the 3.5 is half the size and delivers 95% of what the 6.6 is capable of, at least on a dyno in its standard form. I disagree with you—the 3.5 wouldn’t struggle much more, maybe just a little, but in my opinion, that engine isn’t designed to handle constant heavy-duty use like the 6.6. I don’t think the 3.5 is built to endure what an HD truck can consistently go through over the long term. However, in terms of pure specs, 400 HP is 400 HP, and torque is torque—it doesn’t matter how it’s produced. Peak is peak, even if the peaks aren’t in the same range. Anyway, the 6.6 rules, my Sierra rules, the old man is happy, and in the end, we’ll just agree to disagree on a few points.
  8. Spec remains spec no matter where the Hp and ftlbs pound of torque are assigned
  9. When I was debating between diesel and gas, I concluded that, in....MY... case, a diesel would be nice to have but not a necessity. First, it was hard to justify adding close to 12,000 CAD to the cost for only 6,000 miles per year hauling the travel trailer. Second, the maintenance costs, DEF, fuel prices, etc., were also factors. Once again, for ...ME..., nothing justified that amount of money. On top of that, most mechanics can work on a conventional V8, but I'm not sure about the Duramax. For 10 years, the F150 took us to our destinations, maxed out in every spec, but it still got the job done. My new truck, however, is like night and day with room to spare all around, and more than enough motor. So far, I wouldn't want anything else. All I want from this truck is seven good years of service—hopefully the same for my old me !
  10. Im not full-time stupid I know the truck is heavier, stronger, and built with bigger, more solid components than my former F150. However, engine power-wise, in terms of HP versus torque, it’s about the same, which makes it amazing to see what two little fans spinning fast can accomplish. The Ecoboom , as Chuck mentioned, had its fair share of problems, but how many millions are out on the road? A V8 is a V8, and the 6.6 should be much more solid and reliable. Comparing 213 versus 400 cubic inches for essentially the same HP and torque should be easily manageable. Ecoboost first generation 213 cubic inches 360 HP 420 LB-FT of torque L8T 400 Cubic Inches 401 HP 464 LB-FT of torque and sounds much better at the tail pipe 401/464 is plenty , my first towing experience with my Sierra was on a fairly difficult road and doesnt represent what I am use to drive on with my former truck. Ill be able to really compared apple to apple in November on my way to McAllen Tx leaving from Montreal qc. I cant wait for that trip, in this super confortable truck ...
  11. Btw i wonder if anyone drove an f250 with the 7.3 gaz and can share how they compare power wise under load
  12. Dont take me wrong guys, i dont miss my F150 at all, i was just a bit disappointed by the engine power, maybe my expectations were too high ? Anyway i love my truck i dont regret it at all ,
  13. I agree my confidence was always shaky with the 3.5 but luckily it serves me well for 10 years.maybe the lack of horsepower is a reason why we can expect greater reliability ? Time will tell i Guess
  14. I just got back from a 1000km trip through the mountains of Côte-Nord, Quebec. It's incredibly hilly there! I was towing my 35-foot, 7,775 lb travel trailer for the first time with my new Sierra HD 6.6 gas. Before this, I was driving an 2014 F150 3.5 EcoBoost. First impressions: wow, the comfort is 10 times better, and the handling is vastly superior. Fuel consumption seems about the same, maybe a bit more, though it's hard to judge on those kinds of roads. Power-wise, I'm not entirely sure the 6.6 pulls much more than my former 3.5 EcoBoost. I'll have a better idea on our Texas trip in two months. That 3.5 pulled hard and didn’t make much more noise than the 6.6 it the 6.6 definitely lets you know it’s working. I never drove the F150 in Côte-Nord, so I can’t compare the under-the-hood noise on those hills. But after 4000km, I can confidently say the 3.5 felt as strong as the 6.6, or at least very close, which surprised me. That said, I’m very pleased with my new 2025 HD2500 SLE. No oil consumption and no issues with the 10L90 so far. This trip and the weather were a real test to see if the 6.6 would guzzle oil, and I’m happy to report it’s not an oilaholic!
  15. Need your help here, I am tired to see the notification saying that if i want to use the normal cruise control, not the adaptative one that i have to hold the cruise button. This stupid message is shown each and everytime i press + or- . I couldnt find a way in the truck parameter or the owner manual to turn off this message, do you know how ?
  16. the front is almost perfect so if they touch the torsion bar they will screw up the front but thanks for the heads up , its something that I will discuss with them btw same part number confirmed left side helper spring is almost touching leaf spring on the other side the gap is much more important, anyway I contacted the dealer for an appointment
  17. In my case its 40.5 l/s. 42 r/s ... I think a visit to my dealership will be in the plan thanks Pryme
  18. Hi, first post here. French canadian so please be patient with my english I bought my new Sierra HD2500 SLE Gas in april 2025. I am in love with this truck, is it going to last ... well only time will tell. I come for an F150 XLT 2014 3.5 eco. This truck served me well but was starting to be unreliable. I was hauling a travel trailer of 7500lbs 30 foot long , and even being maxed out it was ok to drive our 8000km trip down to texas every year I looked a the f250 but not much difference with the interior and exterior so i decided to give a chance to GMC... ok enough of me, now tell me I am setting up my equalizer hitch and I realized that when I measure (unloaded) the rear height from the fender wheel well that I get 1 1/2 higher on the r/s versus the l/s. have you ever noticed something similar ? The truck drive straight, no problem detected, I measure also from the frame and the bumper and its consistant, always higher on the r/s. I also noticed the the helper spring is closer to the leaf spring on the l/s .... so if I am not asking for too much can you take the measurment to confirm that yours sit level or not like mine , that would be really appreciated . Im leaving for a 700 miles trip with the trailer and the truck fully loaded maybe that all i need to put everything under there in the right place ? Depending of your feedback I might pay a visit to my dealership. thanks in advance
