  1. Fantastic, thank you so much for the thorough write-up. My husband and I will have some work to do this coming weekend then. It has a "base-level" system, so sadly no USB or anything. I want to change out the entire unit, maybe to something more like this, though I'm open to suggestions on that. Do you think changing it out entirely would perhaps fix this issue altogether? If so, I'll hold off on it until I can pick up one of these.
  2. Wow, awesome! Thank you for the info. Sure enough, it does indeed change with the RPM and gets much worse the higher the RPM's go. I'll take a look at that and find out more about these "grounds." Need to figure out how those work and how to fix/add better ones.
  3. Hey all! New to the GM/Chevy family. I picked up my "new" 2009 Chevrolet Suburban LT last Saturday--my dream "car." I'm very excited about it! My folks have had two and after driving theirs a few years back I was absolutely hooked. I'm super stoked to finally have my own! She's got about 225k miles on her already, and I'm hoping she'll be happy to put on quite a few miles. She's got a lot of travel ahead of her since most of my family lives either north, south or west of us, haha. Already having one issue with a noisy/whining radio, but I made a post for that in another part of the forum--other than that, it's been a great ride!
  4. Hey all. New to the world of Chevy & my Suburban (I've had it for about a week now). I noticed, after I bought it (of course) that it's making a whining sound when I play the radio. If I turn the back unit to "headphone-mode" the whining stops. I've done some research on this, and I have a few ideas but primarily, I'm wondering if it could be that one of the cables in the head unit, is maybe hitting a piece of metal inside/grounding or something? I've seen people recommend tightening the positive/negative hookups on the battery, which I tried but they're already super tight and I can't turn them anymore. Another suggested the alternator, but I'd assume I'd see other issues if that were the case. The primary has been something hitting a "ground." I bought some pry tools to remove the head unit panel, but I haven't done anything with that yet, waiting on a 7mm socket to arrive. I need to pull that off to change out the outlet covers anyway, so I'd be in that neck of the woods, but I'm not 100% sure what exactly I'm looking for. Wondering if any of you have any suggestions/examples/experience with this particular issue. Any responses are extremely appreciated. Thanks!
