  1. Update - Confirmed that my whine is NOT the turbo. In the Silverado's that turbo isn't really suppose to be heard. This whine is from the drivetrain, Chevy says they are clos to a solution and "Don't worry" it's a normal operation. Whines like that usually are followed up by a major failure so I think Chevy is doing a damage control right now. If you have this whine get it documented by the dealer. They will need to confirm it's coming from down by the oil pan. This is NOT normal and they know it.
  2. yeah, the coasting noise is what the bulletin is about. It only has 150miles on it and the dealer is hoping after 400+ the coasting issue will resolve it self. They said if it doesn't they won't leave me in a truck that is bummer to drive. Good to know that the coast whine is not really normal.
  3. Here is a taste of how it sounds. this is just coasting . loud.mp3
  4. if you are coasting is the whine louder than the radio?
  5. I just leased a 2022 Silverado 1500 2.7 liter turbo. I'm trying to figure out what this engine sounds like. I have a high pitch whine when ever I'm driving. goes up and down with RPM, but it stays constant even when I am cruising. Sounds like s high pitch cricket. The sales guy said that's just the turbocharger and they all sounds like that, but I drove a different truck with the same engine and it does not have that noise. I had the dealer shop look at at and turns out there is a bulletin on it that points to the balance shift gear noise. They suggested because it's so new put a few hundred miles on it and the whine might resolve itself. Anyone else have this issue? The bulletin is PIP5887.
