  1. Just wanted to post some updates. Got the truck back first week of December. Dealer rebuilt the engine. Truck seems to run good, except for anything Onstar related. The module apparently went out while it was at the dealer for two months. They're on backorder. Truck did seem to run just like new though. Same mileage, good power. Took it back in for a couple of days for them to diagnose the Onstar issue. Truck runs and drives, but gas mileage suddenly went way down the drain. Ever since I picked it up my HWY average has been around 14mpg not towing. That's what I used to get towing my SxS down the highway. So now the dealer wants to look into that. I love taking the truck in for one thing and something else breaking/goes bad while its there. Quality at its finest. I'm on my 4th GM customer service rep. After being promised a buyback, seems like they are backing out now. After multiple people have promised me a two month payment reimbursement(something that was originally offered/mentioned by them). Now they are saying that will be denied because I was given a loaner from the dealer. When I had a loaner dealer truck for less than a week and then was put in a soccer mom Hertz rental crossover. Which to be clear.....IS NOT A TRUCK. It would not tow my horse trailer, my boat, my SxS and I couldn't use it around the family farm. Which is the exact reason GM originally said they would give me a two month payment reimbursement. I've requested all the phone call recordings from my conversations with them. Doubt they'll give them up. This will definitely be my last ever GM product. I understand it was a random engine failure and covered by warranty. But the way the dealer has handled things and the way GM has directly lied to me and made fake promises just puts a bad taste in my mouth. If you can't/won't do something, that's fine. But don't promise me steak and lobster then give me a plate of horse crap.
  2. Horrible experience with the dealer today but that's because they tried to deceive me and then outright told me about it. Then they were extremely rude for no reason, I was mad but kept my cool in front of them and buried it down. 6-12 months is all they can tell me. GM will cover a Hertz rental....a Honda Passport, minivan or v6 Camaro. Because apparently I drive to much to have a dealer loaner truck. I'm not suburban soccer dad of the year, I spend my 4 weeks of vacation and at least one weekend a month on my family's 300 acre mini ranch using my truck as a truck and use it the absolute most during deer/duck season(every single weekend). I actually use the truck as a truck. They were a little mad I forgot to wash the doe blood out of the bed. They didn't see it until I was leaving to go to Hertz. Proceeded to tell me I shouldn't put animals in the bed, told them the rulebook didn't say anything about dead deer in the bed. Will be calling GM tomorrow to see if there are any options for a buyback including down payment. Should have followed my gut and got the LT Duramax or 6.6 gas.....or just stuck with Ford. We'll see what they say. Not being optimistic about it though. I will try to avoid this dealer through any buyback that may/may not happen. Not sure if that's possible though.
  3. Yeah the 3,000 mile 2wd they gave me is nice but its not my 4wd High Country during deer season nice lol. I wonder if Onstar will come get this truck if I get stuck? Haha Got a low mileage dealer loaner but can't drive it out of Texas due to ins reasons. Sucks because my best customers are in South Louisiana. So took the wife's Kia K5 GT....which hasn't had any problems(listening GM???) to see my customers this past week.
  4. Service tech is telling me it isn't top end at all. Which worries me even more. Several 6.2's in front of mine with bottom end failures at a large Houston based dealer. Not sure how that scales with the general population. I was reading the yukon/tahoe forums and there seems to tons of 6.2 bottom end failures. Theirs were all spun rod bearings.
  5. Well, this one is a first for me. First engine failure on a low mileage/warrantied daily. Have blown up lots of hot rods and toys, nothing stock at 15k though. Was on my way home from hunting, coasting down from 75mph(spd limit) to 55 to go through a small speed trap town. Heard some abnormal noises under the hood, was checking gauges/lights when the truck just died and shifted itself into neutral. Luckily I was able to coast it into a feed store parking lot without getting ran over. Dealer says its not in the valvetrain, something on the bottom end. There's 4 other 6.2's in front of mine that they are tearing into the bottom end. All have the same symptoms. Popular reading online is blaming the rod bearings on 22+ 6.2 vehicles, not isolated to Silverado/Sierra. Hopefully GM is has already changed suppliers but who knows. No timeline but its looking like I'll be driving the 2wd loaner for a while.
  6. Thanks, really loving the 6.2L. Have had some 5.3 trucks and a 6.0L 2500 but this 6.2 is so smooth and powerful. Gets better mileage than the '18 5.3 eassist that I traded. We plan on buying a camper this summer, excited to see how it pulls something with some weight.
  7. New here, have had more than a few Chevy trucks but none in the last 8-9 years until last year when I bought a used '18 out of necessity due to after effects of covid economy. Fast forward to now, just purchased a left over 22 High Country 1500 6.2 4x4. By far the nicest truck I've had. Nicer than either one of my Platinum Fords. Not many mods planned. Tint, wheels, resonator delete and bedcover. I have a four eyed fox body and fishing gear to make the rest of my money disappear. New truck pics and pics of said fox body. I also spend way too much time in a 17 ft Gator-Tail boat.
