Brizzo Jenkins posted a topic in 2019-2023 Silverado & Sierra TroubleshootingI have the 4.3 L V6 Silverado that calls for 6 quarts of oil. However, if I put 6 quarts in the truck it seems to be well past the full “waffle mark“ (crosshatch fill zone)on the dipstick. It actually almost goes up to the point where the dipstick reader and the wire connect. Seems awfully high. However, if I put 5 1/2 quarts in it, it almost reaches the top of the waffle impression. and yes, I completely emptied the oil and drained it on a flat surface. in fact, when you read the dipstick with 6 quarts of oil in it, it’s almost hard to tell that the oil is actually going well above the top of the full mark of the dipstick because it tapers off at the top. If you hold it in the perfect light, you can tell that it is well above the waffle mark Anyone else notice this oddity in the dipstick reading?
Hey all, I will start from the beginning here. Purchased my new 2017 Sierra Elevation Edition in February 2017. Drove it off the lot with 6 miles on it. This is my first new vehicle so its been a little discerning to me that this has more issues than any used car I have owned before. A few weeks after owning the truck, my microphone stopped working for my phone calls and the onstar stopped working all together. My OnStar module died and they replaced it with a new one. About 5 thousand miles later, my trucks radio screen started randomly going black, turning off all sound, then coming back on again. It would resume where it last was, phone call still intact or radio still on the right station. This went on for about 2 weeks then my dash lit up and chimed at me, the radio turned off like it does I get a warning of a Power Steering Failure. I call my local shop and get it in there right away. The drive in, the power steering worked just fine. They said the reading came back as High Voltage, they updated the computer and sent me on my way. Fast Forward to 3 weeks later, my truck starts doing the radio off again but this time the dash lights all shut off too. I can't be sure but it seems to do it when its wet outside. It did not have problems after I was in the shop but it was also dry outside. I also noticed when this happens the voltmeter spikes high. I am dropping my truck off again the Tuesday after Christmas. Does anyone have experience with this before? The shop told me last time they have never seen this before. Thanks!
As the title states, I'm starting to research some lift kit options for an old 2003 Bow-Tie. It's an extended cab stock z71 off road package with brand new BFG 265/75r16 tires. What I'm attempting to get out of this forum is discussion from owners of similar models that have gone this route and can give me some personal experiences. There are many options for lifts, but my preference is to lift no more than 4" and most ideally, just a 2" or 3" lift. I don't really want a leveling kit, but am open to suggestions from all areas. If I were to rank my vehicle knowledge, I would place myself as a 4/10. Possible lift options Zone 2" lift Rough Country Leveling Kit I'd also like an explanation on torsion keys vs suspension lifts (I don't plan on doing a suspension lift) so that I have a better understanding of what to expect to be careful with. I know torsion keys are going to extend the depth of the suspension and cause the shocks to not be able to travel as far, but I'd accept a rougher ride as a sacrifice for running bigger tires and having higher clearance. Here are some pictures of the truck I've bought (no I didn't pay the sticker price). Thanks guys
2014 Silverado High Performance
cprflash posted a topic in 2014 - 2019 Silverado & SierraHey guys. I just bought a 2014 Silverado Reg Cab with the 5.3L last week. Pretty excited about it. Already seems to be a pretty fun truck. I also have a 2006 Silverado Reg Cab with the 4.8L but that I left to my dad to drive. Anyways, a little about me, I'm 19, live in San Antonio, work in the oil field so I make a little money, just don't have time to spend it, but that's where online shopping kills me. Well here what I'd like to know.. I'm always online and I see all these newer model GM trucks turbo'd or supercharged with slicks dropped to the ground running 10's in the 1/4 and then driving them home and that's what I want. I already plan on dropping it, probably 4/6. I just want to know, what needs to be done to run times like that? All the way from rear gears to cams, and tire size to turbos. I currently have 3.28 rear gears and 255/70R17 tires. Just tell me everything like what brands I should use and prices on them. Also, I'm not gonna drive this truck very often. I spend most of my life in a company truck. I hope to hear from y'all. Thank you.
