Hello all, I consider myself a supernewb as this is my first GM product in over 25 years. Just traded in my trusty 2nd gen 4x4 Dodge Cummins for a new to me CPO 2016 Silverado 5.3l z71 LTZ w/ Plus package. I can't believe I left the Ram camp, but this truck really impressed me on the test drives... Anyway, I hope to learn as much about these vehicles as possible via the forums and looking forward to discussions to be had. And now for the obligatory here are my planned mods list. and in no particular order lose the rake. size up on tires, perhaps move to a black OEM wheel to lessen the chrome affect. roller locking bed cover amp power steps to replace the factory steps and perhaps as decent subwoofer. attached some pics.. "out with the old, in with the new."

Hello all, I just bought a '99 GMC suburban for my work ride (replacing a 2005 dodge grand caravan.) I changed jobs in April (left corporate job) and now I work for myself taking care of property maintenance needs around the Denver Metro area. I maxxed out the minivan within 2 months and upgraded to the size and power of the GMC. However, being on a budget and all, I decided to get an older version and eventually save up for something newer (with that purchase still some years off, I think...) So that's the start of my GMC Suburban story- I'll ask shortly (In another thread) about leaking rear heater connection under vehicle (passenger side mid-vehicle ((not at firewall.)) I'll have some questions about the "load deck" when all rear seats fold as flat as possible. My middle seat is a bit stubborn... Then two other topics- buying a ladder rack that fits above the luggage rack. and possibly exploring trailer lengths (8' or 10' or longer???) to haul around windows, plywood, sheetrock, trash, debris, etc... Thanks for reading, Phil

Hey everyone, My name is Chris and after being on many Tacoma forums I sold the Tacoma and just picked up a 2015 Sierra z71 Offroad SLE. Not sure what all these truck offer yet but am already finding a ton of info. Always looking for local guys to meet up and get new ideas. Looking at many different mods and adding some of my LEDs that I make to it. Especially working on an idea for the center of this truck. Rather something to light the console when open or maybe adding a dome fixture to actually light up the center area of the cab. So many options so who knows exactly what to do yet. A few things I've already done is done Westin black side steps, black low profile uws tool box, tinted all around, came with linex bed spray. Hids in projectors, led reverse, LEDs to blast for cargo lights, and give it a clean look. Weather tech digital fits, waiting on wet okole seat covers, trying to fit 2 decent 12s under seat, etc.... Anyways looking forward to modding and so much more to come.

Hi all, I just got my first pickup! Never needed one before, but couldn't pass this one up. All it needed to pass inspection was the rockers fixed (did a quick expanding foam/bondo/underbody fix, plan on getting replacement rockers down the line) and a bulb. Runs out really well considering it's age and miles (previous owner took good care of it). Frame is rust free except for a bit near the back. Only thing not working is the a/c (haven't looked at it yet). It's a 1995 1500k a/t extended cab w/215k miles. Don't know where to check which size motor it has yet. I plan to take care of this truck (be green, right? Reduce, recycle re-use, lol!) and use it for a good long time. I do 95% of my own mechanical work (I stop at jobs I judge to be beyond my capabilities). Here's what I'm planning to do immediately: It will need front brakes and rotors soon (done lots of these on other vehicles, but maybe there's something 'special' about this series 1500). Needs oil/filter changed (no jack needed, whoo-hoo!). Rear diff seal is leaking a bit, will top off with appropriate gear oil, and replace gasket when I have time. Needs the transmission oil changed (very dirty, but doesn't smell burnt), I've done this on other vehicles: - Drop trans pan, clean (or replace filter), clean pan, replace pan/gasket, fill to spec, disconnect trans output line, run a hose from that to a bucket. - Start vehicle, pump out 1 quart, stop, fill one quart, repeat until fluid is clear. - Once clear, start vehicle, and have a very trusted helper stand on the brake, put vehicle in reverse and pump out the torque converter until fluid is clear. - but again, maybe there's something 'special' about this truck. So, some questions: - Engine oil weight, trans oil type, gear oil weight, etc. - Top trans line entering radiator is typically the discharge line from the a/t. Same for this truck? - Expected lifespan of trans & motor if well maintained. - Common problems to expect given the age, mileage and this particular series. One other thing: - Steering has a lot of play in it. Mechanic who did the state safety inspection said the tie rods & pitman arm were fine. I've asked around and was told it's probably the steering box, which can be adjusted. I am not a fan of our "throw away" society, or the general disrespect people have for old but perfectly servicable machines. Many thanks in advance, Dave in New Hampshire

Just saying hi to all the other newbies and veteran members and chevy/gmc truck owners! I'm glad to be a part of this thing. I'm not just new to this site, but new to truck ownership in general. It's AWESOME! Hopefully with some time, threads, and tips I can get even more comfortable with my new ride. Thanks again for this site!

I am new to the Forum. My current ride is a 2008 GMC Sonoma Red Z71 crew cab. I have a 2014 White Diamond Tri-coat, Silverado LTZ crew cab, 4WD with 6.2L on order and cannot wait for it to get here. It left the assembly plant (Mexico) just a little over a week ago.

Hey and howdy. I want to say thanks for the info I gathered on my daytime driving lights and fog light problems. This is a great resource so I thought I would join. Sometimes I wish the GM BCM would magically disappear. Old guys like me get grumbly over "puters' controlling everything. I wonder how long before my neighbors iPhone will accidentally remote start my Chebby??

I am driving a 2000 Chevy Suburban 1500 LS. It has the stock 5.3 V8 and is in nice condition. It is navy with a tan inside. Love the navy----hate the tan. I've ordered seat covers in tan, navy with a touch of red and black saddle blanket, since I am not a big fan of leather anyway and complete rubber covering for the floor in black. My driver's seat moves appx 1/2 inch when the brake is applied or I take off, and I see a fix here for that. Thanks!! I will be ordering new outside mirrors, as mine have stopped working. It isn't using any oil, or any other fluids that I can tell. I sort of got this vehicle by default after totaling 2 in the past 2 years (neither of which was termed my fault). It belonged to my brother-in-law. I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and on both times was hit by teens driving too fast under the influence. Both times was in smaller vehicles and I am very fortunate not to get hurt too badly. The dodge neon that I drove, I was happy to see go by the wayside, the Chevy HHR I really miss. My brother-in law has all the service records and has really done a heck of a job keeping the mechanical part and body up. The suburban is such a joy to drive. It handles well and is very comfortable on longer trips. I am looking forward to learning from this forum. I will be asking lots of questions--some which may sound pretty stupid to you guys on a forum of this type. I am looking forward to being here!!
