I'm not sure if it will 100% work, but i'm not sure i could get the individual parts anyways. Long story short, I'm in california and most places wont sell the S&B cold air intake. even if i got it completely, it's not carb legal (i need the sticker on the airbox to pass smog check). My idea was to get just the S&B tube to the turbo and the PPE air box boot to flow better while keeping the stock air box. Things should still look stock but have better flow. I also don't know if it will pick up HP, but if i can get the slightest improvement on fuel economy, that would help (my truck is 2 years old and i have 75,000 miles on it). I know it would involve parting out a CAI set up and possible PPE set up, but it has come up before (i was just too slow to get to). Any help would be greatly appreciated on sourcing parts or even knowing if this set up would work).
I currently have the AIRRAID MIT tube with airraid filter installed on my 5.3 but am thinking about replacing it with a S&B intake (potentially another brand complete intake) and am wondering how much of a sound increase I will see. Im a firm believer that loud pipes save lives and would go for a muffler delete but theyre illegal in OH and the cops around me don't have a lot to do. On my Colorado, I installed a K&N and the sound increase was impressive and way greater then the increase on my sierra with the MIT tube but I wasn't impressed with the weather strip seal to the hood and like how the S&B intake has a cover on top of the filter but is way more open then the stock box. Any thoughts?
I just installed the S&B Cold Air Intake is it is awesome. I have noticed better throttle response especially in situations like rolling on the throttle after taking turns at intersections. Previously the motor bogged down in those situations but now it comes alive.
