An Illinois truck owner recently had a very bad day, when their GMC Sierra HD truck rolled backward down a boat ramp and became completely submerged in a lake. Adding insult to injury, the whole incident was captured on film by a local news crew that was on site reporting on an unrelated story. News Channel 20 states that the owner was in the process of putting a boat into the water with a woman and a boy when the accident occurred.

As News Channel 20 reports, no one was in the GMC truck at the time of the incident and no one was hurt, but we’re guessing the owner is having second thoughts about their life choices. The Sangamon County Rescue Squad noted that it responded to the call for a submerged vehicle and assisted with the recovery.

Surprisingly (maybe not, depending on how you look at it), local officials say this is just one of a handful of similar incidents to occur. Boat ramps are cleaned regularly, they say, but it’s still a good idea to walk the ramp to find slick spots or other issues that could cause your vehicle to lose traction and either roll or slide into the water.
