After two years of rumors and spy shots spread across the internet, GM-Trucks.com can confirm the Chevrolet Multi-Flex Tailgate is coming soon.

Since the day GMC announced that the “all new” 2019 Sierra would get the nifty Multi-Pro Tailgate there has been one question asked over and over again. When will the Chevrolet Silverado get the Multi-Pro Tailgate?

GM-Trucks.com can now confirm from a trusted source that Chevrolet will introduce their own version of the Multi-Pro Tailgate later this year and it will be called the “Multi-Flex” Tailgate.

The Chevrolet Multi-Flex Tailgate will debut mid-model year 2021, or super late calendar year 2020 / early 2021. It “should” be functionally identical to the GMC counterpart, only Chevy branded. At least that’s the idea.

The Multi-Flex Tailgate will be available on both Silverado 1500 and Silverado HD models. It may be standard on some trim levels, such as High Country.

Known for its useful swiss army knife like features, the Multi-Pro tailgate is different from a traditional tailgate. Just watch our video demonstration above. You can also expect the GMC’s aftermarket Multi-Pro Kicker tailgate sound system to come on over to the Multi-Flex Tailgate.

Our source couldn’t comment about why the Multi-Flex is slated to be a mid-2021 model year addition instead of being a straight up MY2021 or MY2022 addition.

Stay tuned for any official news on the Chevy Multi-Flex Tailgate once it is announced later this year.
