GMC used the Google I/O conference to announce that the 2022 GMC HUMMER EV will have “Google Built-In” and will be powered by Google Automotive OS.

What does that mean? From what we can gather, you’ll be able to use “Hey Google” natively inside the HUMMER EV to choose settings, radio stations, and control other features. It also means that Android Auto should work without an issue.

It also means that the Google Play Store will also work with your HUMMER EV. Now that’s pretty amazing. Developers will be able to write apps directly for the HUMMER EV and you’ll be able to download them on your HUMMER and run them natively. It’s like having a cell phone OS but inside your vehicle.

If you didn’t see it already, yesterday we broke the news how the HUMMER EV Pickup would have a curb weight of over 9,000lbs.

The all-electric pickup truck will produce over 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque to move all that weight. It also will apparently integrate seamlessly with your android phone and google commands.

GMC didn’t elaborate beyond providing the video above. What do you think this means? Is Google Built In a great feature? Let us know by posting on our 2022 GMC HUMMER EV Forum.
